Husband Overdoing it with Insanity and Weight Training

Just started Insanity over a few days ago, this time I have my husband as my partner. I have done all the Insanity workouts before, though I generally don't finish the challenge. My husband on the other hand is new to the routine. He prefers weight lifting over cardio, but his doctor has encouraged him to do more cardio. We aren't even a full week into Insanity and he is lifting on workout days and is extremely sore. After cardio power & resistance he did like 40 min of shoulders, back and abs. Now he can barely move. When I tell him to slow down, let his body get adjusted to the intensity of Insanity before he does more, he reminds me he was a professional athlete. But that was 20 years ago. I don't want him to injure himself or burn out. What can I say to get this man to slow down.

Nothing. He'll slow down when his body "shocks" some sense into him. Until then, there's nothing you can do.0

You're probably right. I just love that we are doing this together. I have never had anyone to work out with and he is doing this for me. I don't want to lose that. So hopefully he will start listening to his body.0

Just embrace the fact that your spouse will do the routines with you. His body will let him know when he over does it. As long as you go till the end he will too no matter how sore he is.0

I'd suggest a P90X/ Insanity hydrid. It's a great balance. Cardio 1 day, strength training the next. If u need the hybrid schedule, let me know. (p.s. I'm doing the hybrid now.)0
