I'm new and an emotional eater

Hiya everyone. I'm Kelly and I'm new here as of Monday this week.

I have a huge amount of weight to lose and unfortunately I am an emotional eater. I hate that i live to eat rather than eat to live but I am aware of this now and trying to change it.

I hope that this board will be a lifeline for me when I undoubtedly feel low at some point. I can eat huge amounts when I just switch off so I'm hoping that people here can help me out and I'll try my best to support others too.

Looking forward to getting to know you all

Kelly xxx

Hey! Nice to meet you :)

Being aware is certainly the first step. I've lost over 100lbs so far and calorie journals have helped me the most. My biggest issue is night time. Some days I have really poor self control, so I try to keep low calorie snacks that I enjoy around and stick to those when it happens. I usually have toasted oat cereals and almond milk, fruit, popcorn, sweet potatos, ect. I end up eating a lot less and not feeling so terrible the next day and it is much easier to pick back up and keep chugging :)

Hi! I am also new and am an emotional eater. I have tried many times to loose weight but here I am. I am making a life style change in order to loose and keep off the weight. This is my number one priority! I have been reading magazines and blogs and trying things that I think may work for me. I find that everytime I eat I log, good and bad so I can stay on track. Mabey try placing post-it notes on your bathroom mirror and in the kitchen with little phrases. Here are a few I like...Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.....I eat to live not live to eat....I am worth it.....I love me.....GOOD JOB!!!! Or put up a sign in the kitchen after dinner...Kitchen Closed. Pre make healthy snacks so they are ready when your stomache is: ) Keep fruit and yogurt in the front of the fridge so when you open the door it's the first thing you see. Chew sugar free gum. Put Almonds in an Altoid box and keep in your purse. I hope one of these sounds like it may work for you. If you have any suggestions I would love to see them. Since I am new I don't have any friends so if you would like to add me that would be great!!!!

    You can do it--

I've been using myfitnesspal for 15 days and I'm loving it! I'm a major emotional eater! A few years ago I lost 40 lbs and was looking great. Then I met my husband, got married, had two miscarriages, and let things get out of hand. I'm 5'5'' and all BMI things say I should weigh 130-150. I'd be happy to get to 160. I've never been there and that's my goal right now.
