Hi, I just joined this group. I'm familiar with the Atkins philosophy and have had success in the past, and as NOTHING else is working, I thought it was time to revisit my old eating habits...
About 10 years ago I was hovering around 68kg (around 150lbs) and I wasn't happy with my weight, so after failing with Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, The Liver Cleansing Diet etc etc I thought I'd give Atkins a try. Well within 4 months I got down to 50kg (110lbs) and through a low carb lifestyle, maintained my weight between 50-55kg for the next 5 years...
THEN I got pregnant, and I don't know if it was cravings, or the stupid mentality that I should be eating for two, but I went nuts and basically gorged on everything I could lay my hands on, particularly carbs, and put on over 35kg (about 80lbs). For the past 4 years I've yo-yo'd and at the beginning of the year weighed in at 89kg. I've tried low carb for a short period since but keep falling off the wagon, so this year I'm determined to give 100% to regain my self-confidence and healthier lifestyle.
I started counting calories at the beginning of the year and am on day 11 of the 30 day shred, I can feel very small changes but for the amount of commitment I've shown so far this year, the weight isn't coming off nearly half as fast as I'd anticipated (I basically lost my weight 10 years ago with very little exercise - just the occasional walk or session on an exercise bike) so it's back to watching carbs rather than calories for me.
Does anyone know how you change your summary to show how many carbs you have remaining for the day, rather than calories?

Click on "Food", then click on "Settings" and adjust to what you would like to watch like carbs, fiber, sugar and protein.
The MFP phone app works wonders and I have also downloaded the Atkins app that tells you the net carbs the moment you scan or manually enter contents. The only down fall with the Atkins app is the wide range of foods in the library hasn't been entered yet. Best wishes on your goals!
I've also found it more difficult to lose after having a child. But I live by the motto of "eat less, move more" and so far exercising more has certainly helped me. I've even included my daughter in with my workouts and she enjoys being silly with mommy. LOL! I'm down 14lbs for the year between counting calories, carbs and sodium. I've stayed between phase 2 and phase 3.0 -
I do Atkins! You'll do fine, though Atkins really pushes exercise, too. I have my settings to read carbs, fiber, protein, fat and sugar (and calories). Good luck!0
