Hey guys, was wondering if anyone knew of any great dystopian novels? Preferably with a dash of romance:blushing: Young adult and adult fiction please.

A couple of classics would be A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller. The Road by Cormac McCarthy. A more recent and very popular series is The Passage by Justin Cronin. Several books by Neal Stephenson fit the bill. Particularly Anathem and The Diamond Age. I really enjoyed both of them. A current, hot book soon to be a movie is World War Z. Haven't read it but heard good things. Enjoy!
PS
I assume you are very familiar with the Hunger Games series.0 -
Hmm... The Hunger Games was good.
Divergent was pretty good, kind of rough in areas because she is a young author in need of a better editor but the story was good.
A Brave New World, Aldous Huxley - creepy dystopian, very strange but not really YA.
The Giver, Lois Lowry - very good!
The City of Ember, Jeanne DuPrau. Good stuff!
Some in my "to read" list that sounded good but I haven't gotten to yet:
The Maze Runner, James Dashner
Genesis, Bernard Beckett0 -
1984 - Orwell
The Handmaids Tale - Atwood
It Can't Happen Here - Lewis
Hunger Games - Collins
Brave New World - Huxley
Animal Farm - Orwell0 -
The Forest of Hands and Teeth (zombies and dystopia)
Bar Code Rebellion
Uglies
Dearly, Departed0 -
I was going to say The Giver by Lois Lowry, but I see it's already mentioned. It's YA fiction, but there's no romance in it.
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. This was probably the first or second dystopian story I read.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card0 -

These are all great suggestions!
World War Z is excellent. I would recommend giving it a go.
And a newer author/series that is wonderful is Hugh Howey's Wool. Five installments and now he is following up with a prequel trilogy set in the same type of environment but at an earlier time. HIGHLY recommend.

If you are in to short stories check out Brave New Worlds. I picked it up over the holidays and thought it was an excellent collection.

Check out Ally Condie's series called Matched.
Matched
Crossed
Reached
I think.
Totally dystopian. Lots of romance and poetry.
Its no HG, but I liked it.... esp. the first 20 -
Hi! I'm new here and was immediately attracted to the reading group!
A GREAT dystopian novel that I did not see mentioned here (although I did see Handmaid's Tale, also by Margaret Atwood) is
another book by her, Oryx and Crake. I have heard her speak several times, and one thing she has said was that when she writes books that take place in the near future, she always includes things that are connected in some way to something that already exists. When you read this, you will certainly see how the futuristic details she includes aren't that far-fetched considering things that happen now.0 -
Divergent and Insurgent
Matched, Crossed, and Reached
Delirium and Pandemonium
Monument 14
The Giver (and the three others in the series)
I read a lot of YA fiction and know what my students like!0
