Lower back issues

Hi,
I'm new to Insanity, i've done some spin and other classes but nothing so intense as this. I want to lose around 20lbs so i'm abit overweight.

I've just started Insanity and now my lower back feels really tight. Do you reckon it's just the fact that i have no core strength and my back is taking the strain. I guess once i build up more core muscles the core will take the strain away from my back.

Should i just ice and stretch my back more?

Do any of you agree??

Thanks

Great job starting Insanity! You are in for a crazy ride! I had a similar problem, but mine was upper body strength. I was SO SORE for many, many days. Painful. However, taking a heat pad 2x/day with Advil it worked itself out. Icing afterwards can't hurt, either. From what my Doc told me, your body is using muscles it's never used much before. Also, don't feel bad if you have to modify the exercises. You should be working, NOT feeling PAIN. Even sprinting in place during exercises that hurt is ok! :)
  • I'm having some lower back issues as well, but my back pain started shortly before I began Insanity this time so I know it wasn't from the workout. Anyway, I'm finding that the more muscle I'm building in my core, the better my back is feeling (fingers crossed). I have been icing 1-2 times per day, and taking ibuprofen also. Seems to be helping, worth a try! Good luck and keep pushing PLAY!!

I'm the same, it got a lot worse for me when I did the Cardio Abs DVD the C-sit position and my back do not get along. I've been stretching more and doing ones that focus on my lower back and it's getting better.

    Keep at it :)
