What should I eat?

Hola All,

So I'm biting the insecurity bullet and bumping my calories all the way to where they need to be. What do you all eat to make sure you are getting the necessary calories, but are still being healthy? Sorry for all the questions lately--I'm really trying to get myself on track. Thanks! :smile:

    Most people have an open diary. I get some good ideas from the open ones. But Hummus and carrots, protein shakes and bars, omeletes I use 1 egg and 2 egg whites and mozarella cheese and then add sauteed veggies, lean meats, baked potaote in moderation, whole grain rice.

    What to eat depends on your calorie goal really. If you are struggling to get in enough cals then go for calorie dense foods such as:

    avocado
    nuts / seeds
    nut butters
    Greek yoghurt
    Milk
    Cheese


    Choose lean protein sources depending on your preference:

    chicken / turkey
    fish
    seitan / tofu / tempeh / Quorn


    Try to stick to wholegrain carbs:

    brown rice / pasta
    wholegrain bread
    quinoa
    lentils / chick peas / beans etc.


    And of course fresh fruit and veggies.

    If you struggle to hit your protein macro (I'm a veggie so I do) then many people will top up with protein shakes.

    Also remeber this is a lifestyle choice so there should be room for your favourite treats if you so wish.

    My diary is open if you want to look. FYI..I'm not always perfect. lol I eat almonds, avocado, lean meats, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, and drink protein shakes after my workouts. I also eat at least 5 times a day and I try for 6. It helps me to eat more frequently rather than big meals at once to get the calories.
