Any good stories from the weekend?

Hi, I'm Jen. I'm sort of new here... joined a while ago, but never really checked in or participated. I'm not sure if there's a protocol for intros, etc, but I figured I'd just jump in. So...

Ok... did anyone go out? Any good, silly, stupid, insane or otherwise noteworthy stories to tell?

I went on a first date tonight. I am not always the most adept at first dates, in general.

So, yeah, I managed to make his beer explode within 10 minutes of meeting him.

It was a BBQ place. My profile says I love BBQ, which I do, so I end up eating it on a lot of first dates, which I don't mind at all. At any rate, the beer was bottled. I grabbed the sauce from the holder which was on his right side, as was his beer. The sauce at this place comes in a big glass bottle... almost as big as a wine bottle. So, when I went to put it back, I managed to smack it down on the rim of his beer bottle. It didn't knock the beer over, and he kindly moved the beer over to his left... at which point it started to foam violently out of the top of the bottle. Because, yep, I'm that smooth! To his credit though, he quickly got his mouth over it and saved most of it... and most of his dinner, which it spilled onto! Luckily, all good brisket is marinated in beer anyway ;-)

Hmmmm... we'll see what I can manage to obliterate on the 2nd date. He gave me his "real" email... which seems like a good sign.

So... what was everyone else up to this weekend?

ETA: intro.

That's a great trick. We used to come up to friends who weren't paying attention and slam our beer bottle on the top of theirs. The rule is that they then have to instantly chug it as it explodes in their mouths.

I drank a lot of broken glass back then.

yeah... this didn't have quite that velocity or force, luckily... but he was pretty quick to react, which was impressive!

I had an excellent date on Friday, then flaked on Sat plans that had I been a male, could possibly have been an awesome wet dream (my friend used to strip at an up-market strip club, and Sat involved drinking, games, decoupage, and more drinking with 5 of her girl friends from the club) and I absolutely could not imagine enduring this, so I faked a headache : )

Edit: JenJ- we live in the same state, Hi, and you look like my oldest sister who is blonde and looks nothing like me. Glad your date made it past the peril of embarrassment- that's at least out of the way!

If you're going to turn down a date with 6 strippers, perhaps you could at least give SP advanced warning for a possible replacement? I might even fly 8 hours for that. I have no idea what "decoupage" is, but if it starts after the drinking games end, I'm sure I'll figure it out. Just hoping it involves nudity in some way.

might not be the most exciting thing but my friend came home with her new puppy this weekend

Other than that we had an ice "storm" on friday so I crashed at my friends house and we had a night in.
Saturday went to a pajama party ended up getting home around 4 am. Good thing about a pajama party is I didn't have to change for bed.

Weekend was not so great....apparently I broke a boys' heart---after only knowing him for 4 days....lol. Still made me feel bad, but all is good.

Talked to the other boy and we may go out tomorrow night......we talked about it and said Tuesday worked best for both, but didn't talk about what we are going to do?

Sunday was a whole lot of running around and I was exhausted by 5 pm.

Friday night was Burns night. A traditional Scottish celebration to Robbie Burns, a poet! You say an ode to the haggis, then you eat the haggis and drink lots of Scotch Whiskey. OMG!

Fab night, but I am never drinking whiskey again.................I'm just about feeling normal today, and I've developed a hairy chest!!

Saturday, I went to see Django Unchained - marvellous!!

    Sunday, chillaxed!

Went to a bowling tournament this weekend down in Springfield, IL and was looking to win some money. The first morning I arrived I went up to the bar area to order me some breakfast and up comes the bartender who is just ungodly attractive. The second I looked at her up close she reminded of me of the one that got away, the ex I wish things worked out with, so naturally this made her even more incredible to my eyes. I ordered my breakfast and it was quite dead so we got to talking and by fates design the lanes I was bowling on were right next to the bar so the whole first day we sat there and talked for a good 4-5 hours :) We didn't exchange any information other than "do you work tomorrow" "yea" "great i'll see ya in the morning" Well morning came around and it was the same routine, breakfast and the fates giving me lanes right by the bar again so I can sit back and conversate more. Since we already broke the ice the day before it was more personal talk about things we like and stuff we do outside of bowling and what not and really got to know each other. I mean other than the fact she lived 2 hours away I thought with how things were going things would be worth seeing what could happen. We talked for that whole day and the guys and I went to go and get dinner and I told her that we were gonna come back later in the night and come practice for the squad tomorrow. Well, needless to say we got caught up in the blackhawks game during dinner and never made it back to the bowling alley. We arrived in the morning sunday for our last squad and she was no where to be found... I bowled damn good regardless mostly because I was daydreaming about her walking in the door to come watch me in some sort of bull**** fairy tale dream, but it never happened. So I spent the whole drive home wondering how it's possible to feel like i've let the "one that got away" get away twice. I get home and relax and grab some food to get ready for the hawks/red wings game and up pops a notification on facebook that I got a friend request, and sure enough, IT'S HER!. I get excited like a priest in a pre school, I instantly accept and start going through pictures to look at her again and i'm just like holy **** is this real?!?!. I click the info tab and BAM! married with 2 kids.

Welp, atleast I bowled, ate, and drank good lol :drinker:

She is a bartender. She wants him to be at the bar drinking and giving her tips.

I thought that too, but I attempted to tip her after the first time and she said don't worry about it. she even bought me a shot of fireball and a coors light, usually when they are trying to con you out of cash they don't turn down tips. So she got a dollar out of me for 2 days of sitting there, to me that doesn't sound like bartender action.

sounds super flirty .....even for a bartender.....to add someone after knowing them 2 days to add to facebook if not interested in anything other than a friendship?

No ring? It usually helps to ask if they're in a relationship after you've been talking for a couple hours.

Usually, but this was a big tourney for me so I was focused on bowling to the point where I was content with the conversation and honestly never paid attention and I get a little shy at times and maybe I didn't wanna know, maybe not knowing for me kept me interested because what if I would have asked her and she told me she was married and had kids, then I would have been bummed out, the conversation would have changed and hell I might have started to bowl like ****, not risking that rofl

Spent the entire weekend in Nashville with the guy I have been seeing for awhile now. We enjoyed a lot of good music and drinking but the highlight of our trip was zip lining yesterday afternoon. That was kick *kitten*.

Good strategy Pugs, but I'd still PM her on FB and say something like "Oh, you're married!! How bizarre!!" :noway:

Awwwww Puggy!! Well, maybe she had the ring on the whole time and figured you didn't mind? Or maybe she's in the middle of a divorce and hasn't changed the status becuase they haven't announced it to the world...no way to know unless you ask. :)

I spent Friday night having a PJ party and snuggling with the kiddos. Saturday I cleaned while they played in the snow. Then we watched MIB 3.

Saturday night I had a date with a guy that went really well. We both agreed it was a great night and planned to see each other again tonight.

Sunday was church, lunch out with the kids and them kicking my butt at Uno. Then we got word that schools would be delayed today because of ice. So, I ended up seeing my date from Saturday again. :)

I want to make Jayne's hat from firefly, and The Doctors scarf eventually.

First I need to make a Green Lantern scarf (for me) a Blue Lantern scarf (for my sister) and a Star Sapphire scarf (For my bestie)

I got Jayne's hat @ Seattle's comic con last year. A Browncoats Seattle chapter was selling them with the profits going to a animal shelter.

I make it a point to get at least one interesting hat each year at comic-con, though I usually go for the fox ones. You should take a pic of you wearing it and put it as your profile pic! And I LOVE that the proceeds went to an animal shelter - that's one way to ensure I would buy something like that!

Seriously !?! That blows. I'd check on the married thing though. I am a physical therapist for the US Army and I don't let patients friend me, but I've definitely lied and said that I'm married, in a relationship, etc. If she gives patrons her FB, maybe it's a front....

If it's true, at least you found out sort of early... and had a good weekend!
