"Smokiversary"

If you're struggling with quitting and need a little something to consider...I hope this helps!
Today is a very special day for me…an anniversary that I've decided to call my “Smokiversary”. One year ago today I decided it was time for me to become a non-smoker. I was tired of the chronic cough, recurring bronchitis, and spending so much money on something I just lit on fire. So, it was a Sunday night and before bed, I smoked my last cigarette with more than a little trepidation (you all know that feeling of “OMG…I’m out of smokes…what will happen now?”)
I wore the patch for a couple of weeks, and I'm not going to lie...it wasn’t easy!! But, I knew I wanted it and it was what I NEEDED to do for my health.
According to the handy little phone app I downloaded (QuitNow), as a former pack-a-day smoker, in one year, I've saved over $2350 by not smoking almost 7300 cigarettes (holy crap) and have added over 30 days of time to my life. My fitness level has improved a lot, and after a while I even forgot how much I used to cough and hack all the time, and get winded. The exercise induced asthma I suffered from for years is almost non-existent, and there’s nothing nicer than knowing my clothes and car no longer reek of smoke. Cigarettes no longer control my life...or my finances!!
Hope those of you who are quitting are staying strong, and if you fall off the wagon along the way...no worries (just get back on!). I look forward to reading your “Smokiversary” stories too!! :drinker:

Congrats to both of you. I am at 7 months and can't wait until I can say it has been a year. It has been one of the hardest things I have ever done but sooooo worth it.0

Happy Smokiversary! It is a very difficult road. I'm in my 3 1/2 weeks of being smoke free and the third week is harder than the first 2 for me. I slipped but only the once, back on track and hoping to stay that way.0
