I am 38 and expecting twins, 22 weeks along. I just wondered if there were any other twin mom's out there?
This is my first pregnancy (and last!) LOL.

Congratulations! What are you having? G/g, b/b, b/g? Or is it a surprise?

I know one gal on here, Tara, is expecting twins. Not sure of her whole username, but she'll probably see your post.

I have a 3 year old daughter, b/g twins who are 16 months old, and am expecting another girl in May. My twins came at 36w2d and weighed 6lb7oz and 6lb9oz. Twins are so fun but lots of work! I hope your pregnancy is going smoothly!

If you need any book recommendations, I HIGHLY recommend When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, and Quads by Dr Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein. It is especially helpful re:how much to eat, as well as pretty much all the other aspects of a multiples pregnancy. This book was recommended to me by our pediatrician, who also has twins. I totally attribute my babies' healthy birth weights to the advice in the book. They never saw the NICU and were ready to leave the hospital 2 days after being born, same time I was allowed to leave.

That is awesome!! I hope that I am as lucky as you to make to 36 weeks and no NICU. That is my biggest fear. The pregnancy has been great so far, other than feeling sick the entire first trimester. We are having a boy and a girl. I will definitely check out that book. Thanks!!

TaraFTMVA is the one having twins - she's somewhere in the 24-25 week range (or something like that - she's in the May 2013 Due Dates group with me).

    Congratulations!

id like to know how much weight everyone gained by 20 weeks, i was using MFP before i fell pregnant and lost 25lbs taking me to my goal weight of 9st 4lb, then i found out i was having twins......think im just meant to be fat hehe.....so im trying to eat healthy so that the babys get the best chance they can but all i want to eat is carbs and chocolate haha i havent weighed myself yet and im hoping to have just gained a healthy amount, but my boobs have gone massive and ive quite a good sized bump. ive already got 2 boys 7yr and 2yrs and i had a bump like this with these at around 24-25 weeks so i know ive def gained! :)

I think I have gained more than I should have by this point. I was down to 179 when I found out I was pregnant and this morning I hit 201.50 lbs. Ugh. So I am up 22.50 lb and this is my 23rd week. I was sooooo sick the first trimester that I couldn't even think about going to the gym and I ate lots of sweets to curb my nausea.

I think I gained about 60 with my twins; I can't remember how many pounds by how many weeks though. I do know that it's good to gain a lot of weight in the beginning because as the pregnancy progresses you can't always get all the cals in that you need due to time (fewer weeks of pregnancy) and space (babies taking up so much space). If you gain a lot in the beginning, there'll be extra fat for your body to draw from later on.

ETA: a good amount of the weight (more than 40 lbs) melted off within the first 4 weeks after delivery (no dieting/exercising, obviously). The rest came off over the next couple months, but it ALL definitely came off faster than the 8 months it took to put it on. That tells me that I didn't 'over gain' (like I did with my first pregnancy, ha).

Yay!! Two more twin pregnancies and possibly three! I was thinking I was alone on this group for being pregnant with twins right now. I am having fraternal girls, I will be 26 weeks on Saturday  . I have gained about 30lbs thus far. I am trying to maintain now for the most part and I am actually tracking again, because although my doctors havent said anything about my weight, I dont want it to get to that. Also that book is amazing ladies! I absolutely love it and feel I am so much more knowledgeable and I attribute it to why my girls are growing at the same rate and why they are growing at a slightly higher rate than a singleton. (Not by much but an ounce or two is an ounce!) Congrats on your twins ladies! I am excited to see fellow twin preggers on here now :drinker:

It all depends on how much you weighed before you got pregnant. But that is definitely a great gain and by now both of your twins should be over a pound so thats over 2lbs in baby alone! I recommend reading the book or you can go to her website and she has advice on their and commonly asked questions
