Hey there,

So, I'm always lookin for new cookin ideas in the ktichen to help me eat healthy diabetic friendly meals for controling my pre-meal and post-meal blood sugar levels.

You may already know of the dlife foundation, an online community for people with diabetes. http://www.dlife.com/homepage

This past Sunday, I recieved dlife's weekly newsletter featuring Chef Michel Nischan, offering his suggestions and cooking tips for people living with diabetes. This weeks menu for the day, looks mighty darn tasty to me!

The thought of donuts make my mouth water. It's also Mardi Gras season so king cakes are everywhere here. How did the donuts turn out?

hahha, well never been to Mardi Gras (is today FAT Tuesday? ) maybe I should scratch the donut idea and think about king cakes?

Shutter to think what a bite of that, would do to my sugars.

My DD lived in New Orleans for a year and said she was sad she would miss King Cake. So I went online and found a bakery down there that ships and ordered one to be delivered to her for Valentines Day. She is going to freak out! But when I read the ingredients, all I could do was sigh and think how lucky she is to be able to eat that stuff. :)

Crochetluvr, did you order one from Haydels, or another bakery?

Fat Tuesday is next week. "Fried chicken and king cake" pretty much sums up the typical mardi experience. I saw some "diabetic king cake" recipes which uses crescent rolls. I may have to try it with a sugar substitute.

Thanks for the links! The only place I knew to order from was Sucre....my DD sent me macaroons from there so I knew their stuff was good and when I checked the website and saw they shipped king cake, I decided to take a chance. :)

I did not know Sucre made king cakes! Yeeeessssss... Sucre's macaroons are amazing! Now I want to try their king cake!!

The locals I know are always raving about Haydel's or Randazzo's. They form long lines in the morning outside of Randazzo's for a fresh one!
