Weather Damage

So, I basically went from the hot Caribbean sun + salt water (Bahamas vacation) to -35C frigid temps when I got back to Canada - all in a span of 1-2 weeks. My hair has taken a beating. I'm doing a coconut oil mask for the day for serious moisture therapy. Is there any other ideas out there for natural moisturizing? I had hair-talk with a lady from the Caribbean and she said olive oil works well, too.

I use olive oil sometimes. If I have time I will pretty much soak my hair in it and hang out at home all day with it wrapped up in a shower cap. Wen it's supposed to be great for your hair too for regular basis use but I haven't tried it yet. I totally know what you're going through :-) I grew up in the south east U.S. (hot and humid and practically lived in the water) then move to Colorado (cold occasionally and dry) Good luck and Happy healthy hair!:flowerforyou:

I grew up in the Caribbean and coconut oil mixed with some castor oil always does the job for me

Castor oil, I've heard good things about that - will have to try!

I use sauve conditioner mixed with olive oil as a pre-poo. I cover it with a plastic cap and leave it on as long as possible. No less than one hour and at times I sleep with it on. I does wonders. Then I either shampoo with a sulphate free shampoo or co-wash my hair.
