eHarmony is running their free communication weekend today through Monday. I thought I'd pass it on for those that might want to try the site out. The process is slow, so you do have to be ready to push it along to get any results over the weekend. But, it would give you a good idea of how the site works for those that have been curious.

My only advice would be to actually put effort into your profile and really figure out what is or isn't a dealbreaker. I've tried it twice (once as the free weekend, once as a paid subscription). When I took more time to fill out the profile, I had a lot of men that were great matches.

Yes, it is a VERY slow process though. It usually takes a few days just to send all the stupid questions back and forth, so a weekend makes it tough to actually get to open communication. Good luck if anybody tries it out though!

Definitely worth trying if it's a freebie!!!!

    However, my two matches were:

    1. A Bisexual guy :indifferent:
    2. A guy that played air drums throughout our date!! :noway:

I have to say those two are probably THE worst matches for me that I can think of!!

I tried eharmony and really disliked it. I've heard this from both men and women, but people assume because they pay for the service they shouldn't have to make much effort in emailing, etc. Like matches should automatically come to them or something... Anyway, that might be different during the free weekend, but just something to note.

I tried eHarmony awhile back and disliked it, but there was a special a couple weeks ago for 9.95/month for 3 mos so I decided to try it again. It is much better than last time......still slow and all.....BUT you can always skip to just emailing someone if you really want to. All the rest is the same as the other sites--you can send "smiles", you can email, or you can go through guided process. You can see who viewed your profile and though you can't just browse, you can ask for matches that don't fit all criteria--so it has improved. Might be worth trying while free!

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do it this weekend or not... My surgery is Monday morning, I'll be on house arrest for 2 weeks, and crutches for another week after that....even after the crutches are gone, limping into a first date isn't appealing right now. And, unless he has an eye patch and a parrot on his shoulder, I'm guessing he'll say think the same. ::laugh:

I thought about trying eHarmony, but after taking the long personality test, was told that they would not be able to match me. Guessing my personality type must not be easy to match or something so they don't feel like trying.

Getting rejected to even have a profile was definitely a hit to my confidence back then.

I dont think the non matching would be about YOUR personality, more about finding the person you're looking for. EG lack of females registered in your area??

Maybe, I don't know. Just said something along the lines of eHarmony can not match you, and to have a nice day.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I just shrugged and figured it meant I was so ultra special awesome that no men in my area were good enough for me - hahaha!

Wow, that stinks. You're not alone though- I know a couple of people who had that same problem. C'mon over to the cool kids table.

That said, I've often wondered if part of the reason eH didn't work for me is that I don't think the personality assessment was accurate of me. Would anyone (who's been here for a couple months at least reading the stuff I read) be willing to critique what eH said about my personality? I'm curious to know if I present myself publicly the way that report says I do.

I could post it in a thread or PM it to whoever PMs me.... thanks!

I have been on Eharmony for about 4 months, I don't mind the process - most I have talked with have no issues moving the 'communication' along quickly. That being sad, I feel I am in a drought with it lol... I am letting it expire at the end of this month, and just signed up for match.com tonight. WOW it's awhole lot different, will have to get used to it. But so far it doesn't seem like the same people :) (haha who can pay for 2 sites at once).

Although I have yet to have success in dating someone for more than a few weeks on EH, I do feel the people on their are more serious and you can get some good convo out of them. I still maintain the paid sites are better than POF, etc. I just used okcupid and made it 1 day.

Anyways, this was quite the online dating rant :)
I say if it is free, go for it!!!!!

I think you should!!! Gives you something to do, and you can explain your situation.
How long are you on crutches for?

I won't really be able to drive until the 28th and at that point I'm still on them for 2 more weeks. I think the brace will be gone by that point.... (I hope) But, baseball season is also starting on the 23rd for the kids.... I was kind of hoping that I might meet a cute baseball dad. :) Have yet for that ever to happen, but you never know, right?

    Wouldn't that be perfect :)
I feel for you with this surgery, hope you recover quickly.
Whatever you decide, best of luck!

I think so.... My daughter in her infinite 5 year old wisdom has told me that the man of my dreams will love baseball.... because "we" love baseball. Yep, she's awesome!

    And, thank you! :)
