MFP tools are very inaccurate. I've been following the Insanity recommended calories. I will only weigh myself again for the 2nd fit test, but I think I can see some trimming down. Anyway, when you do this kind of training, inches matter, not pounds. Do as you find better. Everyone I have spoken to has, like me, added all the numbers and formulas and is eating all the calories back - or nearly - and getting results. See what works for you. I have found that lately there seem to be a lot of people complaining about not losing weight, and they are the exact same who eat further below their recommended intake. Draw your own conclusions :)

so, what i did was enter into MFP the amount of weight i want to lose per week (1.5lbs) and thenlet it calculate my daily intake. then i put in the actual calories i burn in each workout using a heart rate monitor. this seems more accurate to me and i haven't felt hungry or deprived yet. actually, yesterday was the first day i felt hungry, but i think thats because it was a recovery day and i was actually recovering and your body needs fuel to recover so its not surprising that it wanted more food.

if you can get yourself a heart rate monitor to actually monitor your calories burned, you'll be much more accurate.

I'm a bit confused on what I should be doing... any input welcome.

I calculated how many calories I should be eating using insanity's calculations. It said I should be eating 1800/day. I chose a moderately active level since I do insanity. Does this mean I should eat 1800 and NOT eat exercise calories back or should I add in the exercise calories and eat them as well if I am hungry?

    So 2 options:

Put 1800 in MFP and don't add in exercise calories.... So typically I would net 1420 a day.

    OR

Put 1800 in MFP and add in HRM calculated calories burned from insanity. So I would be netting 1800 calories a day.

    Thoughts on this?

you would do option 1. put in the number of calories you calculated but DO NOT put in extra exercise calories. the whole "moderately active" thing is accounting for the fact that you are doing some exercise.
  • It is my understanding that the Insanity Food Guide is already calculating your calories that you burn and has added to you daily calorie intake....I have not been eating back my calories for this reason....Heck....Im even having trouble eating all the calories that the insanity food guide has recommended for me most days.
