Happy Valentine's Day / Nutrtion Workshop Take Away

Options
:flowerforyou: I hope you all gets lots of love today.

If you missed the nutrition workshop yesterday, you missed some great information.

Here are a few of the great things we learned.

The Balanced Plate: 1/2 Vegetables, 1/4 Starch, 1/4 Protein

When planning your food for the week:
1. Decide what goes on the plate first.
2. Make a List.
3. Go to the store and purchase foods from the list for meals.
4. Batch-cooking saves money (prepare large portions and freeze sections for later)

Stay away from Processed Foods!
Whole foods have nothing taken away from them or nothing added to them.
A whole food is a food in the form that it is found in nature (ie: apple, carrot)

A stocked pantry makes faster/healthier meals at a lower cost.

Healthful eating requires a plan.
Start with clear goals to develop your plan.
Meal/menu planning should start with the plate.
Emphasize the principles of a healthful diet.
Keep healthful items on hand + healthful cooking techniques.
Take charge of your health/wellness - be informed & in control.

Don't miss the next Nutrition Workshop in August "Eating on a Budget."
