My doctor and I have decided to go along with this and see if this helps me with my binge eating addiction this is usually caused by mild depression and stress going on and was wondering if anyone else has tried it and if so, how has it helped them? Just looking for input, thats all.

Hello, I've tried many different drugs to treat severe depression/anxiety, etc, and Wellbutrin is one of them. One of the good parts of Wellbutrin is that it is less likely to cause weight gain than other similar drugs, and has been known to cause weight loss via a suppressed appetite. Wellbutrin was not a good match for me, I did not recieve much relief from depression, anxiety, etc after waiting the 6-8 weeks that it can take for antidepressents to become effective. However, that is highly individual and it may work just fine for you. I noticed a little appetite suppression initially, but not a significant amount overall. But, again, this is highly individual. Not a bad experience my any means, and, if I ever have to go back on medication I would want to start with this one, and hope it works better this time. Good luck!0

If you want to try something more natural, there is 5-htp which is supposed to help with depression, insomnia and binge eating. I never had any luck, personally, with conventional anti depressants and tend to rely on exercise and sunlight to tide me over. I have been diagnosed with both clinical depression and bipolar though.0

I took wellbutrin for a little while and it did help and I did not have any weight gain from it.
Please note link on 5-htp:

The same source has information on Wellbutrin too.0 -

I've been taking (generic) Wellbutrin for years for chronic clinical depression, and it's been the best AD for me, by far. Weight neutral and no sexual side effects (if that's a concern for you), unlike many other ADs. Most people I know who have taken it have found it helpful for depression, with few side effects. If you have tendencies to anxiety, you may want to watch that, as Wellbutrin can up anxiety a little (not for everyone, though). YMMV, of course, but I think it's a good one to try.0
