So diagnosed last summer at 9.6%. Just had my fourth results back and I'm down to 5.4% and the second quarter below 6%.

HbA1c = 9.6% July 2012
HbA1c = 7.2% Sept 2012
HbA1c = 5.7% Nov 2012
HbA1c = 5.4% Feb 2013

As we all know not cured but under control. So pleased, I feel like having a cream cake :) Only kidding Bree

Through weight loss, improved healthy eating and lots of exercise. So it can be done folks.

    Nooooo!!! Only one reckless person per forum, please. :D

    Truly awesome news. I know you have worked remarkably hard. (And that's an understatement). Are we going for the 4% club next?

    Thanks for the positive comments everyone.

    No I like my carbs too much to actually reduce them to the levels I know you do. I am happy to keep my A1C below 6%

    My main restrictions on carbs remain, so: no beer, bread has been re-introduced into the diet (but only wholemeal and not the four slices of white with lashings of butter that the Old BigG would eat with breakfast), and general portion control.

    Congratulations on kicking your stats into remission numbers (I like to think of it that way, because then I know it's not gone, just asleep.) Lets me know it is possible as well.

    Oh, the four slices of bread lathered with butter.... (pausing to stop drooling)!!! For me it was extra yummy when it was italian bread from the bakery section. Still warm or toasted. Ugh! Been 3 years since I've had that! Did though, just the other day, have a smallish kaiser roll with smart balance. Only 21 carbs for a roll! Still can't make a habit off it, but it was yummy.
