I"m still new to this.
Can someone explain why my morning blood sugar is higher than right before bed?

Last night, an hour after I took my last bite, i tested and got an 89.
I slept all night, and woke up. I tested first thing and it was 112.

I would think it would go down over night. What am I missing?

It may be dawn phenomenon... you can read more about it here http://www.bloodsugar101.com/

    I have the same problem!

It is probably Dawn Phenom, but I have back problems and if I have a bad night's sleep or wake up with back pain, my numbers are usually high. I hope you figure it out!

I have the same issue..try having some protien before bed...see if that helps...or for you any snack might work. You have to play with it for a bit to see what helps. But djshari is right...it could be dawn phenomenon.

    Good luck!

I also have a problem with DP. I wasn't able to consistently get numbers below 100 (no matter what my last post-prandial number was) in the morning until I added an additional 10 minutes of exercise before bed. Nothing hardcore - just a leisurely ride on the stationary bike or elliptical. The fasting numbers are the hardest to get into a normal range.
