water, potassium (supplement or lots of green veggies), and magnesium. I still get them from time to time but I've been supplementing potassium and magnesium.

Salt, potassium and magnesium. The latest Atkins book instructs you to drink broth, this will prevent leg cramps.

Calf cramps are common from overuse but I was getting cramps in my shins and my hand (after tennis) not something I've experience before. My Doc confirmed low potassium level and changed a med I was on from one that was known to lower potassium levels (hence why he was testing me) to one that didn't.
Poof! very quick improvement. Sometimes stopping the loss is as good or better than increasing supplementation.

Go buy a potassium supplement and take it daily. Not a doctor. I just know that this works for me when i have leg cramps. :) Hope I've helped you!

I get toe cramps, mostly at night but sometimes after cycling.

Morton's Lite Salt has added potassium. That has really helped me.

The cramps are caused by water leaving your muscles, so staying hydrated helps too. Good luck! The cramps really suck!

Calcium/zinc/mag tablets with a chaser of potassium. Drink loads of water, most cramps are caused by dehydration!
