Diet break

I'm currently on a 10 days diet break whic ends this Saturday....
Do you retain more water when you're on a diet break? Because I feel like I look puffier than usual... I don't know if I've gained weight or not thought because there isn't a scale in the house

Are you taking a full diet AND exercise break (i.e. eating at TDEE and not doing any strenuous exercise) or are you just eating at TDEE but conintuing to exercise?
For me it is the lifting that makes me retain more water and when I have a diet break I tie it in with an exercise break too (so no lifting) and I tend to deflate and lose water during those times.
However if you are still exercising but just eating more then that may be causing you to hold more water which may well disappear when you decrease your cals again.
Remember there are other causes of water retention such as sodium intake and TOM etc so there could be a variety of reasons for feeling 'puffier'. Although as you say you have not been able to weigh yourself so there may be no increase at all anyway0 -

I'm currently doing my diet break, too. Can't speak to the puffier feel yet, but I'm wondering how you're approaching it? Are you doing it like a vacation and not trying to log everything in order to get to a certain number, or are you still trying to log in order to get up to TDEE? I'm currently logging and trying to get within 100 calories of TDEE or so but am wondering if I should just take a brief break from that, too, for a bit rather than worry over every number.0 -
I am not understanding what a diet break is.0

I'm on a diet break as well. I'm not logging but still exercising and eating healthy. I'm pretty sure I'm reaching TDEE because I know what I was eating before and it's definitely more now. I don't feel puffier and everything is still fitting the same.0

To me it means not eating in a calorie deficit.0 -
I allow myself one free meal per week, every week. It jump starts my metabolism and I am never deprived any foods, ever.
I follow Body for Life. I love the program!0 -

People will usually do a diet break and eat at TDEE after eating at cut for 4-6 weeks. I am doing a diet break this week as well. I was at cut for about 6 weeks. I am still lifting and exercising this week. I actually feel slimmer this week. To the OP, are you drinking all of your water still? I am logging this week just because I like to be able to reference things in the future and also this is my first time going bac k up to TDEE since starting EM2WL. I hope you all have great results.0 -

I agree. I will log regardless if eating at maintenance or at my deficit because I don't want to eat above my TDEE. As far as exercise goes you can take a break from it as well. Remember your body is under stress from eating at a deficit AND from exercise. Talking a week to give your body a break from both may be a good idea. It is basically a personal decision.0 -
Yes I'm still exercising, just eating at tdee
I am eating a lot more carbs than I normally would so I could be retaining more water than usual0 -
I'm still logging everything, I'm trying to spend all the extra calories wisely, a diet break for me means eating looser, but not binging or wasting all the calories on junk food instead I eat more of the good stuff if that makes sense!0

Makes sense. Logging even on a diet break is a good plan.0 -

Think is a great plan :-)
I would feel like I failed if I suddenly are alias of junk to get to TDEE .. Especially as mine now appears higher after doing the spreadsheet :-)0
