Hi there!

I have been trying to do the reset for some time now, but today I've hit an all time low!!

My background is the following ... used to eat very low cal (~1200) and training a lot a few years ago. weight was going up and down 3-4 lbs but nothing more/less. I then upped my cals to 1400, then 1500, 1700 and then I was cycling between 1600/2000. I have gained around 6 lbs in that process. About three weeks ago I decided to do a full reset, so go on 2000 cal every day (my calculated TDEE). From that day though, I feel really bloated! My clothes don't fit, even my gym clothes feel uncomfortable! weight is still going up!! So I was at around 144 lbs when I started, now I'm 154!!

So, I'm just wondering what I should do. I feel really really heavy which actually affects my mood A LOT! I don't feel like going out, socialising etc. Even just when I sit and can feel the layers of fat around my waist I feel disgusted! I wake up and I'm not hungry but I know I should eat...which I hate! Not sure if I should try the 1600/2000 cal cycling I was doing before, or drop a bit to a daily 1800, or even stay where I am.

Please, any words of encouragement would help a lot!!!

Hmm what was your diet consisted of? Are you eating enough of greens and proteins? If not already, maybe you should spread your meals to six times a day, and avoid starchy carbs in your last two meals, or 5 hours before going to bed.

If your diet is already perfectly clean, what I would do if i were you, is just stay on 1800 calories for awhile, and then later on decide what to do next (depending on the results) or maybe gradually up it.

Also, very important, whatever you decide to do, your body needs some time to adjust, so give it more than 3 weeks!

Either way, it's so much better that you've gained a bit, than being on 1200 calorie diet! Your body will thank you for it long term, and you WILL lose the weight, I promise :)

    Just be patient!

Thanks for your response!! I definitely agree that staying on 1200 cal diet is mental! That's even lower than my BMR so I'm not doing it again! ever!
My diet is very clean, eat much protein and healthy fats. Many veg, some fruit, carbs mainly from potatoes, rice, oats, fruit and veg. Some bread occasionally. Was always eating clean, that's not my issue! Macros are around c35-p35-f30 on rest days and c45-p30-f25 on workout days.
I'm just feeling very uncomfortable on my own skin right now. I really want to do the reset since I've come this close, but I honestly don't know if I can keep up with that gain!! I don't really mind about the scale weight, but can't afford a new wardrobe right now! Even my bras feel tight right now, so that's discouraging!

I might need to drop a bit to 1800 for a few weeks and see how my body adjusts...

Can you open your diary and also tell us a bit more information, height, weight (which is above), activity level, and bf%? If you don't know your BF% there are a bunch of sites you can use (takes measurements and enter them into I believe fat2fit does it), and if you are unsure of your activity level tell us what your gym time consists of.

I believe I have opened my diary. I haven't been logging my food there for a long time, but used to have my own diary. Calcs where very very close. I don't log my training there either, but I strength train 3x/wk with big compound lifts. I used to do some conditioning too and some LISS but I have dropped all these the last few months.

So, I'm 5'6 currently 152 lbs (use to weight 144 last November), bf% was around 23% last November too. I have a desk job, so I am pretty sedentary, workout 3x/wk for 1h. So my TDEE is I put light active comes around 2000 cal.

I'm thinking of dropping to 1800 for a couple of weeks and see how it goes. On the other hand I'm not sure it's the best idea...cause if I struggle to loose at 1800 then I'll end up having those extra 8-10 lbs on me! Ughhh...
