Any paleo Runners?

I've been training for a marathon and my short runs are usually 3-5 miles and my long run is currently 14 miles. I've been doing just fine and am very comfortable with my short runs then I started eating paleo and BOOM. All my short runs are super difficult. I have found that this might be due to my carb intake? I usually have a big cheat meal saturday night before my long run sunday morning and the long runs are always great. But during the week when I'm eating 20% carbs from fruit mostly, my short runs are a huge issue. What do you do to help with your running when on paleo? Am I the only one with this symptom?

Same issue here. I do better on days when I have more carbs like sweet potatos.0

Half marathon training or the last month. I run 3-4 days a week...carb load! I hear some people throwing a little rice in their plan. I just do my sweet potatoes and a copious amount of veggies.0

I'm a triathlete and this link was very helpful to me. Great info to decide what to eat to prep for a workout. I would eat dates or raisins pre-workout (like when I used to do gels or shot blocks). I would eat sweet potatoes or other starchy things the night before or for lunch on a big workout day. The link has a list of paleo sources for carbs.

Thanks so much! I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with this issue. I've never notice nutrition making such a difference in my runs before but now I know that I'm not just going crazy0 -
It has made a HUGE difference for me in terms of performance and recovery. I also juice cucumbers and celery and add coconut water to my water bottles so that I am not drinking sports drinks but still getting electrolytes. It takes getting used to but it's great!0
