Did my 5K today!

Today was actually w9d2. I did not walk even one step, although now I'm wondering why I didn't go faster. Speed is my next immediate goal.

I had lots of hills, which is a first for me since I've been running on relatively flat ground. I was glad I took my water bottle, because the hills combined with the cold weather...I needed it for my throat.

And I came home with a gift certificate for two months at a posh gym AND one for $50 to a local restaurant!! I certainly recouped my registration fees. There were some really nice prizes. The $50 gift certificate was for it being my first 5K ever. The gym was from my name being drawn out of the bowl.

And I got a photo with a major-league athlete (and our clothing co-ordinated!). I'm not even big on celebrities, but, hey, he was there next to me, I went to the race alone and needed a photo to remember the big day...so why not?

Congrats! Make sure you post in the graduated thread as well! My run is next week and I can't wait. It is also my birthday so debating on whether or not going all silly for it (face painted, etc..).

Great job Kathleen! As for running faster...eventually you'll learn how fast to push yourself to finish a 5k spent. At this point, it's more about getting the miles in. Finishing is an awesome personal record.
