All over body itching

I know from reading and experience that while most of us have the typical PMS symptoms some of us have some 'different' ones.

Before peri-menopause I would have strange sensations and my skin would itch.

I have been struggling with sever skin (all over body) itching a lot lately and have had to take benedryl to help.

Anyone else have this sympton?

I get the all over body itching all the time. I do take benedryl sometimes and also use lotions made for eczema.

Yes, I have been experiencing the "ants under the skin" sensation for over a year. I had to go from benadryl to allegra to zyrtec and benadryl again (on the weekends).

You may be allergic to one of your go-to foods. Culprits for me were white flour and citrus juice. Even so, I've been on daily loratidine (claritin one brand) for over three years now.

Thanks for your replies. It would appear that I had severely dry skin from head to toe and possibly my hormones made it more intense.

Yes. Moisturizing my whole body after showers helps, but when the nightime itchies hit (about once or twice a week) it makes sleeping that much harder. I've also been dealing with Restless Leg Syndrome in the evenings.

This severely dry skin, as well as weight gain, lack of energy, body aches and a host of other symptoms that can mimic menopause can be caused by hypothyroidism. It is estimated that many more people have it than are diagnosed.

I have to say the ONLY thing that relieves the itching is Gold Bond healing lotion. It is expensive but Walgreens sometimes has a buy one get the second half off. This has saved my sanity and my skin.

My mother-in law has very dry skin and iches and also gets white rough patches on her skin. The doctor told her years ago to wash the spots that need washing and do the washing in the sink. Only get in the shower once or twice a week. The lotion and soap he liked is cetaphil.

Buy some jojoba oil. While your skin is still wet after your shower or bath, massage it into your skin. Jojoba most closely approximates the oils in your skin's mantle.

I'm already on thyroid medicine.

Thanks for the replies it helps to know I'm not alone. Apparently hormones and winter and the chlorine at the Y pool are contributors

I actually tried some Vaseline Intensive care lotion which has been doing wonders and it's inexpensive. Also using Aveeno body wash  .

This has just begun for me. So far "Calahist" lotion helps (calamine lotion with benadryl in it).

We use a fragrance free detergent etc. I don't swim. No new food...

Yes, about a month ago I itched in every pore of my body! I scratched myself raw! I bought some anti itch cream and intense lotion and laid off soap for a bit. It seems to have gone away--forever I hope.

    Ugh, yes!
Especially when I'm trying to sleep at night
When it first started happening I thought I was losing my mind.
So what else is new?
