Workout frequency?

I just did my routine on Wednesday, and will be going out to town on Friday for the weekend.

My question is, is it better to work out Wednesday and Thursday back to back then again on Monday, missing 3 days. Or use Thursday as the rest day that it should be and miss 4 days (Thursday to Sunday) and get back at it Monday?

Or does it really not matter?

I wouldn't work out back to back days. Skip Friday and pick up on Monday where you left off.

I would also recommend that you just pick it back up on Monday. You don't want to do back to back workouts.
  • Does this include when you're very early in the process? I'm only a week in, and I just don't feel any sort of recovery would be necessary. Did any of you guys just blown through the first few weeks?

Take the rest. Even if you aren't sore or feel taxed, your body grows and recovers during the rest time.

I don't know why you wouldn't or couldn't. If anything maybe just drop the Squats from the Thursday workout but do the rest of it. You'll have 3 days to rest, nothing wrong with working out back to back days.

I know the time has come and passed but others may be reading this. Medhi would say that you can't make any excuses not to workout on your workout day. Since your weights are light I don't see the problem skipping one rest day. And doing workouts back to back if the occasion warrants it. Honestly the early weights are to practice form assuming you're average joe strong you really aren't killing yourself or rather tearing up muscle and building strength for a few weeks.

I've done this twice in the first couple weeks also adding 10#per exercise. I've had no adverse affects to speak of.
