Started Turbo Jam 3/19/2013

Started Turbo jam with my Fiance last night, we felt great after working out - Day 2 today.

We are following the advanced calendar and I modified it so that there are two workouts per day. We both have a long road ahead and I want the encouragement to see the pounds and inches melt. Our goal is 1-3 pounds a week. We have also revamped our eating habits, threw away all the junk food and now protein fresh fruit and veggies. We are striving for 8-10 glasses of water a day.We want to look amazing on our wedding day (no date set yet) but our goal is to be down 20-30lbs by May 30th for the Luke Bryan concert we are attending. I want to be able to buy a new paid of jeans for the concert!!

I am looking to overall and over time shed 120-130lbs and he is looking to shed 75-90lbs

We have a long way to go but we are in for the long haul!

I started Turbo Jam on 3/19/13 TOO!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! I'm so sore from Tuesday's AM workout... it's AWESOME!!!! I need to get on a routine like you are... I think I would do better if I had a "plan". Are you just following the guide book? Two workouts a day is pretty aggressive!! You go GIRL!!

I took the guide book and added a workout to each day. After doing learn & burn the first day I didnt feel like it was enough, so I did the 20 min workout, did the same combo last night (I did just the burn & 20 min). I love the workout and after this set I think I am going to buy turbo fire & do the hybrid workouts, but I will see where I am at at the end of 4 weeks or 6 weeks. I also decided to mix it up because my biggest problem is I get bored so I stop, by mixing it up more I am hoping to stick with! Here is the schedule I am following:

    Week 1
    1- Learn & Burn/20 Minute
    2- Learn & Burn/20 Minute
    3- Cardio/Abs
    4 - 20 min/Punch, Kick, Jam
    5 – Cardio/Abs

    Week 2
    1- Cardio/Learn & Burn
    2 - 20 min/Abs
    3 – Cardio/Punch, Kick, Jam
    4 - 20 min/Abs
    5 – Cardio/ Punch, Kick, Jam

    Week 3
    1- Cardio/Learn & Burn
    2- 20 Min/Sculpt
    3 - 20 Min/ Punch, Kick, Jam
    4 – 20 Min/Sculpt
    5 – Cardio/Abs

    Week 4
    1- Cardio/Abs
    2 – Sculpt/ Punch, Kick, Jam
    3 – Cardio/Sculpt
    4 – Sculpt/ Punch, Kick, Jam
    5 – Cardio/Abs

Punch Kick Jam is a separate DVD - I actually acquired both Turbo Jam the 5 workouts & then the Punch Kick Jam DVD for $10 from a friend. Cant wait to see where I am at come 4 weeks! Keep up the good work!! I have also changed our eating habits and so far I actually feel better now that I am eating little meals every 2-3 hrs. Also taking vitamins, we'll see would love to drop tons of weight but as my sister told me the scale isnt the only thing to pay attention to inches lost are awesome too... I'm on Day 3 today so I will workout Saturday. What else are you doing??

I did warm up and last half of the “punch…” then also did the “burn” this am….I just love the kickboxing, punching part of TJ!! It works muscles I wasn’t working before! I have been doing the elliptical machine… getting bored with that! Like you said…once I’m bored then I stop working out and that’s NOT GOOD for my body or my mind. Exercise clears my head and gives me energy so I’ve learned I have to keep moving!

I did P90X a few summers ago… dropped about 17lbs! But it is HARD and I got discouraged b/c I couldn’t keep up! I still have those DVDs so that’s something I can work up to again. I do live a great, small town (we don’t even have a stop light) but we live near the walking trail that goes around the lake outside of town so that’s a great workout too… but it’s too stinkin’ cold for that right now!

Keep me posted on how things go for you….

That is awesome - we are small towners too!! We have 2 lights but it wasnt always that way (horrible accidents at one intersection forced the state to put in a light) Can not wait for Spring to get here so we can go outside and play with our little girl and walk!! Im like a plant I need sunshine!!. Day 3 went well I hurt from the abs DVD but ready to jump in tonight! Stayed up late watching SU basketball game so I am a little low on energy but my favorite thing is..... I DONT FEEL HUNGRY, which is huge for me

LOL must be the coming spring because I started Turbo Jam on March 19/13 too! I bought it last fall and never even opened it. I plan to do it for two months, easy schedual first 4 weeks then advance. BUT I do find that I am adding more workout than what the schedual is, it is just so much fun!! I weighed and measured myself on the 19 and then my husband hid the scale on me and the deal is to weigh in every two weeks (i was a daily weigher). And I will measure after 4 weeks. If I can complete the two months I am going to reward myself with Turbo FIre for my birthday in May! Love this program so far.

So my first week went well.... I did TJ (punch, kick, jam) 3 AMs and Sculpt (1) am. I was SOOOOO sore... but it was good. This weekend was not good - in terms of eating! So i got up this AM and did TJ for 25 mins - running a little slow this AM though.... basketball, too much wine, not enuff sleep.... grrrr! But I'm hoping for a better workout tomorrow.

I over did it this AM - hurt my back a little so I will probably do Sculpt tomorrow....not as much twisting.

Keep me posted on how things are going....

How's your eating plan going? That's my struggle!!!

But I can't figure out how I GAINED over the weekend!! Although I didn't do great with my eating... I didn't think I did that bad! I've clearly hit a plateau! :explode: So I'm planning on working out 5-6 days this week AND today I bought the TURBO JAM LOWER BODY and 3T JAM on eBay for $14!!!!!! :noway: :noway: I couldn't believe I got it for only $14 and that INCLUDES shipping!!! :glasses:

So I'm ready to BURN some calories and drop some pounds!!! :flowerforyou:

Hi Tulip, I know that you just raised your calories to 1400 but maybe you need to again. are u using your TDEE or just what MPF sets for you? I am 2nd week of beginners turbo jam schedual and LOVING IT! I hate the ab workouts though, but I have always hated them not matter what program i am doing. I have not weighed myself since I started on the 19 of march and I am only going to weigh in every two weeks so I wont know how the progress is until april 5. (ITS KILLING ME) I did 20 min workout, AB Jam and most of the Booty sculpt(?) last night and now stairs are not my friend today

Hey J... I've never understood the TDEE. I just go by what MFP says. Here's the thing... I've done enuff exercise to keep me from gaining so i know that if I bump my exercise up and watch my eating a little better I'll get back to losing again. Winter is brutal for me... I love it at first but by Mid-January I'm over it and depressed that it's cold outside! My husband is the same way so we hibernate, drink wine and eat. Then in the spring I walk all the time and start dropping pounds again. It's a vicious cycle. :blushing:

Last night I took a melatonin to help me sleep a little better (it's "that time" right now) so when my alarm went off this AM I barely moved. :grumble: So no workout for me today. But tomorrow AM.... I plan to do Cardio party and part of the Ab workout. Looking forward to burnin' some calories!

Great job on your workout though!!! :flowerforyou:

Good job Tulip!! I still hate the ab workout. The thing I have noticed is that everyone has to find what works for them, TDEE, MPF, Weight Watchers, as long as people are eating healthy and not starving themselves. But then again if they do thats their issue  I have lots of friends that have tried MPF and can't make it work for them but they do really well with WW (im too cheap to pay lol). What are you doing after turbo jam? I am going to do at least 8 weeks and maybe then 8 more and then going to "treat" myself to something harder IF i can stick to the 16 weeks. Just not sure what to move on too. Turbo fire, chalene extreme P90X ????

Thanks JB.... I completely agree, it is all in what works for each person. I'm with ya on not wanting to pay every week for WW... I can say that I don't think I would do well at WW - I'm not good with meal plans. I know you can use the app and work it with whatever you want to eat but again you have to pay for the app. I'm just cheap! :blushing: Especially when MFP is free and so awesome!

I'm really enjoying the Turbo Jam series - and now that I have a schedule for myself, I know what I'm doing the next day. So I'm just going to keep doing the schedule and see how far I get. My next thing is to get another fitness watch... I lost my other one but it was a GPS watch so I could only use it outside. I'm give myself 100 calories of exercise if I work out b/c I have no idea how many I burn when I do the DVDs....hence wanting a new watch.

So what are the challenges you ladies face?
  • I just started Turbo Jam! How's it going for you guys? Any updates? :)
