Getting back on track

So yesterday I went on a carb bender- spicy chili, peanut butter, nuts...not good. I have been doing pretty well low carbing it otherwise. Question- when you fall off the wagon, what are your tips for 1) getting back on and 2) minimizing damage?

Hi Kate!
To minimize damage, get back on plan ASAP. The longer the binge the more damage and the harder it is to get back on track. Drink plenty of water to flush the water that is often retained due to a binge.0 -
Depends how low carb I've been. If I've been staying in ketosis range (for me that's net 50 and under) I just go back to usual very low carb eating. If above keto range I cut carbs 5% for a few days so I don't get cravings. Anytime I get food cravings, whether from too many carbs in a day or a new food I try to add, I back off carbs a bit til the cravings are gone.0

I don't have any tips for getting back on the wagon cause I kinda suck at that.
But as far as the damage goes, chili, peanut butter, and nuts are really not that super high in carbs. You could have done a lot worse!

I take time to think about what was worth it (if any part was) and what was not worth it and how I could in the future either eliminate or lessen the damage for any future situations which may be similar so I can mentally prepare myself to avoid making the same mistakes again. Other than that I just add in extra exercise time for the day.
I'm still learning!0 -
Wait - your carb bender included peanut butter and nuts? You already did minimize. Seriously, good job.
Just get right back on track with your normal food today.0 -
When I fall off the bandwagon, I get right back on as soon as I can. I don't beat myself up about it. We all have bad days. Life happens. I do my best to make up for my slip over the next week with things like extra exercise or restricting my carbs a little more, so that my averages for the week are good.0
