Zombies, Run! Questions

I just finished the first mission today, and I love it! I was reading through some of the threads here and have been looking on the app site/blog and I have a few questions.

1) I've seen some of you talking about evading zombies and the story telling you how many meters they are away from you and what not.. Is this in later missions, or what? D:

2) I've linked my account with the internet site, but it didn't show my calories burned or distance ran..? Did I not set something up right?

3) Is there any way to change the playlist you run to?

4) Is the only way to finish a mission, to "stop mission"? Mine kept going, and I could actually only run for about 34 mins. Does it tell you when you've finished it..?

Sorry for all the questions, but I couldn't find my answers anywhere on Google :/ I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of this app :)

You have to have Zombie chases turned on to get chased. Unless you are using the 5k version, which doesn't have zombie chases.

Not sure about this. Have you tried logging into zombie link on your computer?
    3) Is there any way to change the playlist you run to?
Yes, a mission settings screen appears when you are about to start a mission. You can change your playlist on this screen.
    4) Is the only way to finish a mission, to "stop mission"? Mine kept going, and I could actually only run for about 34 mins. Does it tell you when you've finished it..?
Radio mode picks up after the mission is completed, and you will still pick up supplies in radio mode. You should be able to tell when it switches from the mission to radio mode. Just press stop mission to end your session.

For most of your issues, it almost sounds like your GPS wasn't reading wherever you were. I've had that happen in dense foliage areas, or really overcast days. I've also used the app twice while on a treadmill using accelerometer mode, and haven't been chased either time.

(Also, I use the android version of the app on my Samsung Galaxy mp3 player...it's not a phone. That may be relevant.)

Thank you for replying! :) For 1) I think I did have the chases on, but maybe not, I'll see with mission 2.

    2) Yes, I first logged into zombie link on my computer but like the person after you said, maybe my GPS wasn't picking up :/

And thank you for the answers to my two others! :)

@suemar74 Yeah I'm thinking it was my GPS too. Thank you for replying :)

How do you link a MFP account with a Zombies, Run! account?

When I first started Zombies, Run, I was not getting zombie chases because I was using a GPS fitness app (MapMyRun, but there are others that can also interfere). This app was interfering with Zombies, Run. Only one app can use the GPS feature, so you can't use these apps with Zombies run.

@LostOutrider, it is not possible to synch MFP with Zombielink accounts.

I use an Ipod touch in accelerometer mode and I get zombie chases. But there is a minimum speed you have to be walking/running for the chases to occur. I don't remember exactly what it is.

You have to set up the playlist on your phones music manager first. when I log into the mission it has a drop down that lets you select which playlist you want.
    4) Is the only way to finish a mission, to "stop mission"? Mine kept going, and I could actually only run for about 34 mins. Does it tell you when you've finished it..?
At the end it will tell you "mission completed", after that it will keep running the radio mode until you select "stop mission" button on your phone.
Also, I have noticed that if I stop a mission before it is over, when I go back into it, it gives me the option to restart or continue from where I left off. That may be an option for you if you can't complete the mission in 34 minutes. :)

    Happy survival! :)

If you're still looking for the answer to this, or if someone else is, the app defaults with this turned off. To turn it on, go to the Zombielink website and log in to your account. Click on your name in the upper right, and click on settings, and set the drop-down for calorie counting to on. Make sure the app is set to use the GPS on your phone so it can measure how far you're running, and you should get your distance and calorie burn now.

Is the 5K one or the other one easier? I bought both of them today and I think I'm totally out of shape.

The 5K one is meant for beginners and is basically a couch-to-5K training program that goes on for 8 weeks. If you want to get the story in the right order, do the very first mission for the main app, then do the 5K, and then go on with the main app missions again. I'm really enjoying the 5K one, even though they won't do zombie chases with you yet (no zombies inside Abel, apparently).

And I don't know what kind of shape you're in, but the main app was kicking my posterior in a very embarrassing way once I made it past the first two missions, to the point where I suspect I will be very glad I bought the 5k one once I start over with the main. I was in terrible shape, and even though I'm only on week three of the 5K one, I can really tell a difference between now and when I started out.

Once I get back to the main app, those zombies won't stand a chance!

I've also had issues with my GPS--I often run after work and the coverage out here is awful. Many times it hasn't gotten a GPS lock until 10-15 minutes in, so when I look at my stats after a 3 mile run, it will say I ran a mile and a half or so. It's frustrating.

That said, I've also been using the 5k one as a way to get in shape before going back to the regular app. Even if you can already run for 5k, you can use it to build up endurance or (as I've been doing) get hill training in. If I'm not going to get an accurate read on my distance anyhow, I may as well run up and down the same hill over and over! :P

This! There have been a couple of times where my run has been interrupted by other obligations and it's nice to be able to finish it up, plus that adds a nice 10 minutes or so to my next run.
