I need suggestions.

I'm new to MFP, and my goal is to keep my weight above 117, preferably at 120-125, become more fit and healthy. I'd like to gain lean muscle, so I'm more than willing to increase my goal weight if necessary, but I don't want to "bulk" up.
I'm currently using Vi Shake powder in my smoothies made with fresh frozen fruit, flax seed, and often I'll throw some spirulina in there. MFP suggests a caloric intake of 1810 for me, at my activity level, but since I'm going to start running again (hopefully) to do a 10k before the summer is over, I'm guessing I'll need more. It's difficult for me to do this, without going way over in some area, like ...sugar. I am not a dieter, I don't like to restrict my eating, and I usually listen to my body, but this site has shown me why I keep losing weight (especially when I'm stressed) without trying...
Soooo...I'm seeking healthy, energy boosting foods that will help me not to lose weight, but not gain too much either. Is it possible, that, even though I wasn't starving myself before, I've revved up my metabolism by eating more food, and making healthier choices? I've never been a junk food junkie, but I wasn't all that worried about what I ate, because I just kept losing, regardless. Note: I have been to the doctor, all my labs, cardiac tests, etc. were good. I have managed to get to 120 and maintain in the last few days.
Thanks,
Rebecca

Give yourself 1g of protein per pound you weigh and .45g fat per pound you weigh. Fill in the rest of your calories with carbohydrates.
Running a 10k is not the optimal way to build lower body lean muscle. A structured weightlifting routine that hits each muscle group 2-3x per week would be optimal.
Base your calories off results. If you have found a level that you are maintaining at, add 10% to those calories and go from there. Strive to gain 1/2 pound per week.
How you wish to fill your calories with foods is up to you. All foods supply energy. Eat foods that you enjoy and include a lot of variety and eat your fruits and vegetables and whole grains, but don't be afraid of sweets either.0 -

Thank You. I, too loose easier than gain. I am female and 60 years with the metabolism of a 12 year old boy! At 125 I look like skin draped over bone. I usually weigh between 130 and 135. When I dip one pound under 130, I panic and eat more processed foods. I am total vegan and very active. I have begun to ride my mountain bike again, hoping to build different muscles than my workout at the YMCA. I'll try to up my protein and fat. I get plenty of carbs. I could live on potatoes! I am also teh primary caregiver of my mother who is 85 with Parkinson's.
