How do you plan for holidays and bad days?

Hi All
I've been doing the Eat more to weigh less method for a couple of weeks now. Luckily my husband has been training for the Paris Marathon so we kind of put a stop to our social life and have been eating mainly at home so I've been able to control my diet very well. However, the marathon is next week and along with a weekend in Paris (which as a vegetarian can be quite tricky in itself!), we also have several nights/days out planned.
Whenever I was doing a normal diet I always just reduced my calories on all the days leading up to them to allow myself more on the cheat nights. Is this still ok to do. Could I eat say 200 calories below for 5/6 days and eat the extra 1000/1200 all in one day. Any advise would be appreciated. When I go out i do still try to have healthier options but again being vegetarian sometimes means I don't have a lot of choice for example one of the last times I went out the only vegetarian thing on the menu was cheese and onion pie.

If I were in your shoes, I would eat a little less (100-200 calories) on the days before the trip and then while in Paris eat what you would like, within reason of course. But ENJOY! Enjoy being able to eat in Paris.
In the long term if you know you have a holiday or event approaching I would try to plan your "diet break" week around those times. So 4 weeks at TDEE -10% and then a week eating at full TDEE.0 -
Great thanks for the advice.0

I agree. I always track my progress on a weekly basis and keep everything on a spreadsheet to try to average 15-17% cut fromTDEE... therefore if i need a 'big' day or two, I'll just eat less a few days before then have those cals on the days I need it. I don't go crazy though and I don't use vacations as an excuse to go hog wild and do whatever I want. Enjoy Paris. It's a wonderful city.0

I eat whatever I want those days. Seriously. It's one day and it won't kill you. You have the restof your life to do 2 cardio sessions to burn it off.0

Oh my, I agree with Brad. I refuse to count anything on vacation. The only thing I do is make sure I eat protein and lots of it.
When I went to Paris I ate and enjoyed everything. There for 10 days and did not gain a pound.

Great thanks for the advice. Being vegetarian I always panic a little more as usually people say make healthy choices but when you are going on holiday in a group and you are the only vegetarian sometimes your lucky if you have 1 choice in a restaurant and it's usually risotto or lasagne.0
