Sodium help!

What should my sodium intake be? A few people have told me to watch how much I eat because it retains water. MFP set me at about 2500 for sodium a day.
Also, any suggestions on low sodium foods?

I believe the DRI is set at 2300mg/day for sodium, but that being said, I wouldn't really stress too much over it provided you don't have hypertension and provided your potassium intake is reasonable.0

What Sidesteel said. I track my potassium with my sodium. Potassium and sodium are both electrolytes that manage the water in your body. If you don't have enough of one or too much of the other, it will cause water retention. I'm kind of sensitive to electrolyte imbalance that's why I follow it. Try to get more fruits and veggies in your diet.0

A bit more specifically, increased potassium intake promotes urinary sodium loss which serves to reduce overall sodium levels.0
