Why drinking water helps me with binging (sometimes)

I don't know if this would help anyone but besides the fact that sometimes we mistake our thirst for hunger, but I believe that many binge-eaters don't eat out of hunger too and hence the water thing might not work...
BUT!!!! I find that drinking water makes me need to pee more so it 'interrupts' my binging and sometimes that makes my binges stop!!!

Unfortunately, I find that at my age- 59, and after having surgery, if I drink all that water I wet myself:laugh: Well, it's probably not funny, but have to laugh at myself.
It is true for me that if I under drink by very much, I will overeat for some reason....probably craving fluids, but not smart enough to recognize the thirst and drink some water! I also drink a couple or more cups of coffee every morning and that doesn't help. Not giving up my cuppa Java for anything!!0 -

Yeah I find the whole mistaking thirst for hunger thing doesn't quite work for me (sigh the woes of being a binge/comfort eater LOL)
But yeah I found this little perk HAHA. But drinking water also helps me feel like I'm reducing the bloating with my binging!!0 -
i find it helps to drink water, but sometimes i don't because in some twisted way, I want to binge.... wierd...0

Agreed - if I do it BEFORE I really start wanting to binge (and then it's too late), drinking a few glasses of water can sometimes help to make me feel full and just distract me a bit.0

as a very emotionally driven binge eater I cant honestly say i binge because im thirsty. my binges are so far removed from what i would consider hunger/craving. its honestly like a drug, i crave the trance when im cramming food in my face. in that moment im not thinking about anything else and all my worries just float away for a moment.

water helps me greatly because whenever im fully hydrated, i feel like a million bucks! something about drinking tons of water just gives me so much energy and i feel so clear headed and positive. its a really amazing reaction that i've only started to tune into recently. when im fully hydrated i just feel great. and that really removes me from the feeling of desperation that usually begins a binge session.

ive been trying to keep my 1 L refillable water container full and at hand. I try and drink one in the morning while i eat breakfast and get ready for work, one before lunch at work and a third one before end of day. then when i get home i drink a cup or two of tea ( and i have to pee every five seconds lol) **sorry if that is tmi** but I try to get my water quoata done for the day before i get home so when its bedtime im not getting up every five min like a preggo lady.0
