Increasing Flexibility

I'm starting to realize that one of the reasons I struggle with so many CF movements is my flexibility. I think I really need to start working to become more flexible. I'm thinking about adding in one day a week of yoga or something. Have any of you had this problem? What did you do to increase your flexibility?

Any advice, websites, etc. are welcome!

  • Have you looked at www.mobilitywod.com? (not affiliated)

Some of the stuff posted there has been quite helpful in addressing some of my shoulder and hip issues.

Definitely mobility wod, great stuff. Yoga in general is good, but some of the moves can actually compromise what you want for crossfit. Not saying you shouldn't do it, but it is something to consider. I would have thought it was ideal, but they did talk about some adverse issues on mobility wod.

Weeks where I do 2-3 pilates/yoga/stretch routines my body performs better and I wake up less "stiff," so my initial answer is "yes."

    Will check out www.mobilitywod.com

Breaking muscle has this active stretching pre-workout called Primal Moves. Its on Youtube and takes about 8 minutes. I plan to try it once I am allowed to roll and put weight on my shoulder. I don't typically have flexibility issues, but I don't feel like you can ever do enough stretching.

i have been CF'ing for about 3 months. I have limited flexibility in my arms making any overhead lifting a challenge. Its getting better, but its a slow process. I am always happier with a WOD that includes front or back squats : )
