Hello every one . I'm new to this group i have been on mfp for a few years but just come back to it as i got weighed after christmas with a 6lb gain not happy . I have had a under-active thyroid for some years and i am taking thyroxine 75gm .i exercise twice a week swimming and gym some times both on the same day. I also walk to work every day which is about 40 mins each way . then I'm doing shop work so I'm on my feet 6 hrs a day . the thing is i feel really tired every day and bloated and generally under the weather I have lots more going on so i cant pin point what is making me feel so rough . but i keep exercising as this does make me feel better so thats the best thing for me I'm 53 this year and want to lose about a stone to start with . today i weigh 12.6 which i feel rubbish at . so here goes would love some encouragement and can i lose weight with the thyroid thing . I also am generally healthy eater but like the odd chocolate bar .

If you continue to feel tired, you may want to talk to your Dr.? Maybe they can identify a change in how much thyroxine you take, or multivitamins. I know my tired is a mix of hypothyroid and being anemic. But don't give up! You sound like you're doing great, it's just unfortunate that we don't always loose weight as fast as we put it on. XD0

I was on levothyroxine for the last year for hypo & Hashimotos. I felt a little better but still had bouts with tiredness & being cold - my two biggest complaints. When I called the endo for refill when my prescription had no more refills ( I was a month away from my check up ) they called in a script for Synthroid instead of the levothyroxine. I know they were supposed to be the same drug so I have been taking the Synthroid. After a two weeks I realized I saw a significant difference in how I felt. I am not cold, I am not exhausted (just normal tired from work) I feel so much better. So I just want to say, maybe not all generics/compatable drugs are the same as the name brand. I have my appointment this week & can't wait to talk to my endo about this!
As for your weight gain, this is the place to lose it. My endo is actually who introduced me to MFP and I do well staying on track here. I still have 10 or 15 lbs.to lose yet. Spring is finally here so I will be getting out to walk, exercise more.
Yeah, I understand about the chocolate bar...but my lesson has been, I no longer have "forbidden foods" If I want something I have just a little & make sure I keep track of it with my other foods.
Good luck & keep us posted. Feel free to add me if you'd like.0
