Just getting started

Hi...I just joined the group today and I also completed week 1 day 2 today. I know, big deal, right? Well, it is to me because I have exercise induced asthma and the last couple times I tried to start this program, I was unable to run the full length each time I was supposed to. Well, not true anymore! I ran the full 60 secs EVERY time and I still felt good (and was able to breathe) after! It's the little things that count, right?

This is totally A BIG DEAL! That's awesome. Think of how many people in the world tell themselves that they could never run and so they don't head out the door.
I also have exercise induced asthma. I'm on Advair all the time and I've seen a pulmonologist who gave me a nasal spray that makes everything a lot easier. I've also noticed that I'm breathing better in general since starting running - so, great work there! That's a good excuse that you didn't choose to use. It's actually a great safety valve since it lets you know when you're running to the point of injury.0 -
Happy to report I just finished W2D2 today and I even threw in a couple of 60 second runs on my way home! This really feels great! :-)0

Starting it it the hardest part! So you have done brilliantly. Congrats on your success so far, keep at it0

Thanks Stripey.... I found a friend who is on the same day as me, so we are able to really encourage each other through it. I find myself WANTING to run even on my walking days, so I guess my body is handling it OK. On my off days, I work 12+ hour shifts on my feet, so I think I get a decent workout on those days, too!0

Copelt, I am a couple days ahead of you but I am here to help cheer you on
. Dealing with something like Asthma is something I wouldn't know what to do about. It's great that you haven't given up and you are working through it. Keep going!

OK..week 2 completed!! AND...I ran an additional 5 intervals at 60 seconds and another 1 at 90 seconds! My 15 year old son challenged me to run for a total of 15 minutes today...so I did. I just texted him "Challenge accepted, met, and exceeded!" I feel GREAT! Bring on week 3!!!!0

Today, I was supposed to do W3D2, but it has been storming ALL Day long! So, I did Jillian's 30 Day Shred video...then I started thinking (because for some strange reason I WANTED to run) and I used my Wii Fit to walk/jog in place for the C25K durations. It wasn't as tough as actually running, but it was better than nothing, right? Now, I'm scheduled to work the next 5 days in a row (12+ hours/day) so I don't know how much I will be able to run. We'll see!0

Love it!0

OK...I repeated W3D2 with my step-son running with me tonight. AFTER working all day (12 hours)! So yay me! My step-son has already run a half marathon @ 13 years old and came in 3rd in his age group, but he was a sport and stuck around for my slow butt! It was fun and it actually helped ease my sore muscles from the 30 day shred yesterday.0

Wow...it's been a week since I did my W3D2, but I did W3D3 today and it felt GREAT! I worked 5 days in a row, then had major shoulder pain yesterday and the day before, so I think I'm not doing too bad. Here's to starting week 4, probably tomorrow!0

ok...W4D1 of C25K...almost did it all, but had to stop running half-way through the 2nd 5 minute run...it was either walk or pass out...I chose to walk. I did, however, walk the last minute plus another 30 secs, then another minute during the cool down, so I ran the full time (plus 5 minutes during my 1 mile pre-warm-up). So I think I did OK!. I'll repeat day 1 tomorrow though, just to get through it without stopping. I was amazed how well I did through the 3 minute runs, though.0
