I completed this workout after my BoxMania class this morning...now I want a nap. I was a little slow on the mountain climbers but No girlie pushups for me this week.
Happy Monday!
Jennifer0 -
Well I kept changing my mind all day on what, if any, I was going to do. Then the weather turned nasty. Temperature started dropping and then the snow came down. So I decided no zumba and do the challenge. Decided on the last full week of March. I really had to push myself to get through it. Physically I was able to do them all. And on my toes. So that is....Yep 90 of them bad boys. If I feel like this tomorrow I will need A day off. I will see.
Jennifer did you get that nap in? Lol, great job on all your workouts. And nothing girlie about that. Hope you showed those youngsters up.
Shelley0 -
Great puppy pic, Shelley! Is that one of your guys? He's pretty darn cute! Excellent job on your workout! Way to go!
Great job on the push-ups, Jennifer. I'm still doing counter push-ups and trying not to hurt myself again.
I did THREE sets of the week with 15 burpees because I shopped instead of working out yesterday! I'll do the same thing tomorrow to make up for Sunday. I walked 4.35 miles in 63 minutes and spent 65 minutes on all the challenges. My SO just rubbed Ben Gay all over my back! Smelly, but it works!
Have a great Monday evening!

Three sets? Wow, great job. And yes, take it easy. No sense in hurting yourself.
Yes this is my youngest. His name is Joey. I had to drive to Lineman Colorado to pick him up from Casper WY. I chatted with the breeder on and off for a while. Then they gave me a call and told me they had the perfect little guy for me. I had told them what I was looking for in my new forever friend. Joey was born on Jan 27th, seven years ago. And he is still the perfect puppy. He loves to be with us. And if I am trying to work outside in the garden he is trying to be pickedup. LOL Phew, what is that smell? Oh yes, it is Bengay. :P
Shelley0 -
I'm making up for not doing the challenge on Saturday...an extra set yesterday and an extra set today. So now I'm caught up!! I did the same workout today that I did yesterday. Tomorrow I'll kick it up to the 20 burpee week. Bengay here I come. It's pretty bad when you can't get away from a stinky smell because you're covered in it!!
Joey is so cute! I had a Keeshond for 14 years. She passed when my daughter was one. We didn't get another dog. The Kees was such a good dog. Her name was Brandy...her mother's name was Liquor!! I got Liquor from the pound then she had five pups on Mother's Day! Six for the price of one! I kept Brandy. Now we get Bean whenever we need puppy kisses!!
I have today off work which is why I'm able to get this all done early. Must go shop now...
Have a great Tuesday!0 -
Shelley - No, I didn't get a nap. And what a sweet puppy!
Chris and Shelly - I need to find out where you have hidden that fountain of youth! ASAP!!!
Today wasn't such a good day at the gym for me. On Sunday I took a tumble and I feel like I have been hit by a car. I am fine just a little bruised and sore. I did do my rowing class for 45 min and my spinning class for 45 min but I was only able to get in one set of the challenge today. I decided to listen to my body for once.
Have a Terrific Tuesday!0 -
Did Week 2 of 30DS today. Felt like it ended WAY too soon after the last week of this challenge! I'll have to add something else today. Interested to see how much harder Week 3 of 30DS is compared to what I've been doing, but some new moves to benefit from, I should probably wait a week. : )0
-
Jennifer sorry about the tumble. You still should take it easy for a bit. Oh and the fountain of youth is right next to the bottle of geritol and bengay.
Joan I so am looking forward to meeting Jim, you know you will have to do it with Bean. Lol. Great minds think alike also, I have been thinking of trying that week 3 of the shred tonight since I will not be making zumba. Lol
So everyone listen to our bodies, rest it when needed and push it when we can. I am sore through the center of my shoulder blades. I am sure it is from all them pushups. Maybe I will just do the shred and some yoga tonight.
Shelley0 -
Okay ladies today was a GREAT day at the gym!
60 min BoxMania
This challenge, both sets today! : )
and I added 40 crunches, 40 reverse-up (I made that name up) and 40 (counting one side) v-sit oblique taps.
I feel energized and ready for more!
Wishing everyone a Wonderful Wednesday!0 -
Great job Jennifer. V sit ups start out easy, but not for long. Lol. Adding abs a couple of times a week is great also. Well I snuck off and found an empty room at lunch time to do mine. I did the last full week. Twice. All of them darn pushups on my toes again. But it felt so good to be done. Then I did about 5 minutes of abs. Mark it DONE! Depending on snow and the roads I am wanting to make it to zumba tonight.
Shelley0 -
Terrific workouts you three!!!
Shelley - wish I could sneak off to an empty room to do my workout...well, I could but I make such a racket doing my burpees that the Rescue Squad would be breaking down the door with an ax thinking someone inside was possessed. The exercise gods gather when I start my burpees and make bets as to which burpee I'm going to start cursing on, and if I'm going to get all 20 of them done twice. Any of them that bet against me LOST!!!!!!! Challenge COMPLETED in rare form and colorful language!
I spent 50 minutes on other challenges. It was a total jacks day, I swear it. One of the challenges was 300 JJs! I did them...modified... but I did them. Man!
I feel better now.
Everyone have a great Wednesday evening.
Tomorrow is my REST DAY!
TTFN
Chris0 -
Chris - 300+ JJ's...Way to go!
I did not make it to the gym today, instead I got to spend 2 hours in the tax office. (Does stress induced sweating count as exercise?) Then almost 3 hours in the doctors office to find out my 6yo has strep.
I have a meeting here shortly then after I get the little ones off to bed I am going to complete this challenge!
Hope everyone is having an awesome day.
Jennifer0 -
Jennifer that is a horrible way to spend ones day. I sure hope your little one feels better soon. Strep is really painful.
Wow Chris, that was a boat load of JJ' s. Rescue Squad, is that figurative talking or is there one there? Just turn up the music and they won't hear you. . And using my lunch hour for the challenge is not always easy. I am a sweaty mess. I clean up as good as I can in a sink and call it good. But it is nice some days. Today I did half of the challenge. Then jumped on the treadmill for about 35 minutes. I did Jillian Michaels shred level three this morning. I noticed another plus from this challenge. All the squats have made my inner thighs firm. Lol. I am thinking of running through the one with the 20 burpees only once and then doing a Jillian Michaels shred. I need to change it up and there are only so many minutes in a day.
Sounds like you really nailed your burpees today. So which one did you start cussing on? . Impressive!
Shelley0 -
Jennifer - I hope your baby is doing better.
Shelley - from the burpee gods to us!! Or burpee hell... can't decide! Have a look at this. One of my challenges today is 100 of these suckers!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiDrFSdI3yg
I'll be back a bit later...when I can get up off the floor! EGAD!!!!!!!!!
I love Fridays!
Chris0 -
Today was good! I had Bean for a four mile walk then had him watch me for 70 minutes as I got through all my challenges. It was great! I did one challenge called Waist Trimmer and the last exercise is five burpees...I did regular burpees...jump back, jump forward, jump up! Nothing hurt, pinched or ripped! Now, don't get the idea that I'm even starting to like burpees because, chances are, I will never, ever get to that point! I'll see how the burpees in our challenge go tomorrow!! I did girlie push-ups and my back muscle seems okay. It was a good day!
Shelley...I start cussin' on squat #49...just thinking about burpees gets me! The Rescue Squad is figurative...what would actually happen is five managers would put their yellow hard hats on, grab their walkie-talkies, gather in front of the office door and talk to each other on their hand-held devices until I came out of the room. They would then stand on their tip-toes and peer around me to see who was in the office making that terrible noise because it couldn't possibly be me. They would each report hand-held devices that there is no one in the room and it is ALL CLEAR. "This is McNab. The room is empty. The noise must have been the wind. ALL CLEAR. McNab, Out." "Cecil, Out." "Ben, Out." "Terrance ...I mean, Smitty, Out." "Michelle, Out." Meanwhile, I've been to the ladies room, freshened up, and returned to my desk.
I'm having blood work done in the morning...have to fast for 12 hours...can't eat after 8:00 tonight...it's 8:01, and I still have frozen yogurt to finish...must eat fast...ohhhh, brain freeze! I saw my doc on Tuesday, he noticed that I had lost weight. Last time I saw him I was 17 pounds heavier. That was pretty cool.
Okay, everyone have a great Friday!
Chris0 -
Lol Chris you are cracking me up. I love your story. You should write a book. Great job on your challenges! You are such an inspiration. Keeps me coming back for more. And no pain, great. My daughter went to CO yesterday to find a dog of their own. Looking for a rescued one. I hope they find one like Bean or my four.
Well I got my challenge in last night barely. Lol, I was answering emails while doing it. . But I did the 20 burpees and all pushups on my toes. Today was much better. Got it done in record time and had to fit in some abs to finish up my time. DONE! Then took the boys walking. They were so excited. We ran into some of their puppy friends. They love that. Then went shopping. I bought a new pair of tennis shoes. They are VERY colorful, LOL. I plan on using them for zumba.
Have a great weekend everyone! Oh, New discovery today. My neck is Toning! That is a problem area for me. Super excited.
Shelley0 -
Shelley - I'm glad your neck is toning. That's the first place I put the weight on and the last place it comes off. Sounds like you had fun today with the pups and shopping...my two favorite things these days! I hope your daughter finds the perfect pup! Bean was a rescue pup. I don't know if I told you that. Thanks for the kind words. You inspire me, too. You stayed and that means a lot, You mixed it up with me and do other things, too.. Makes it more fun and keeps me motivated.
Got to Kaiser 35 minutes before they started taking blood this morning, and I was still #19!! It was fast once they started. We spent about an hour there. Not bad. Went with daughter to get her hair put in an up-do for a wedding they are at right now then got Bean and brought him home!! We walked 4+ miles, and it was great! Thought I tuckered him out but when we took him over to the school to throw the ball around, he was still full of energy and wanted to play 'Keep the Ball Away from the Humans'. He won!
Got the challenge done with "almost" burpees...can't to the jump up at the end of each one. I can do the jump back and jump forward but then I just stand up. It's better than what I was doing, so I'm happy! ...this is me being happy Got another 50 minutes on other challenges. It was a good Saturday. Plan to do more of the same tomorrow...we are having a puppy sleep-over tonight!
Everyone have a great evening!
Chris0 -
Chris you are killing it. And an extra 50 minutes of other challenges? Wow! I did the one with 15 burpees again this morning. I surprised myself. I did everything in just under 20 minutes. I was doing the pushups 10 at a time on my toes. Shake out the arms and hit the other ten. I held to be doing all 20 w/o rest someday. Not really much of a rest now, but I still count it. I messed up with trying to do it so fast. I jumped down and started pushups when it should have been burpees. So I just finished and then did the burpees. I then finished out with a little more weights and some abs. Needed to get my thirty in.
I also bought a Jillian Michaels DVD for Kickboxing. Looked like fun and only 20 minutes. If I did not have to work I could do more workouts. . Bean is going to wear you out. Lol. My little guys have such short legs they are ready for home after about half an hour. One is older, one is heavy, and the other two would do more. But we have to hang back for the slowest one. We often walk ahead and then wait for one to catch up. But all in all it is fun.
I lived in Germany and can not give blood. We may have been exposed to mad cow disease. That is what they tell us anyways. My husband was upset. He really enjoyed donating and doing his part. Glad you can help others.
Yes the neck! WOOHOO. Also speaking of hanging in here. We were thinking of changing it up a bit. Making two different challenges, a lot similar to this one. But throw in some abs. Try to keep it at the half hour or less time. Then a person could alternate between them. Could do three and keep this one in, say the one with 15 burpees. That would keep with work out for six days and one off. What is your thoughts on this?
My Oscar plays that same ball game. Lol
Have a great Sunday. And if not for you my neck would still be flabby! Lol
Shelley0 -
After several days of sick childen and yucky weather I am ready to get back into the gym and start knocking these challenges out. I have been such a slacker mostly due to lack of sleep...but look out world I'm ready to push past my comfort zone.
Jennifer0 -
Glad you're back, Jennifer. Glad your kids are doing better.
Completed the 15 burpee challenge. Walked w/Bean, 60 mins on challenges.
Shelley, I'm up for anything you want to do. List the exercises and when we should do them. This will be fun!
I looked at JM's Kickboxing DVD and I couldn't do it at the time because of my back muscle. I started her 30 Day Shred today. I completed it not too long ago...it should have been a piece of cake...nopey, nope, Not on your life! It was as if I was a beginner. I was surprised. We'll see.
Must get some shut-eye!!

I borrowed this from one of the challenges out there...It resembles ours in that it increases insanely each week. We can modify it...I'm taking it to work to study it some more. I would have to walk then walk fast...no running for me, but otherwise...??
...just a thought.
SUMMER BOOT CAMP
WEEK 1: warm up with walking one mile, then run 1 mile. do 50 of each: push ups, squats, crunches, mason twists, & bridges. plank 30 seconds.
WEEK 2: warm up with walking one mile, then run 2. do 75 of each: push ups, squats, crunches, mason twists, & bridges. plank 1 minute.
WEEK 3: warm up with walking one mile, then run 3. do 100 of each: push ups, squats, crunches, mason twists, & bridges. plank 1.5 minutes.
WEEK 4: warm up with walking one mile, then run 4. do 200 of each: push ups, squats, crunches, mason twists, & bridges. plank 2 minutes.0 -
I also had seen that one Chris. The walk/run part is to much time wise for me. What I like about what we are doing is it is just an add on to our favorite cardio that we all are doing. Joan runs, you love to walk with daughter or Bean, sometimes both And mine is zumba or whatever strikes my fancy. I love the mason twists in it though. So with that I will just take some from this one, mason twist, And some from what we are currently doing and we could then tweek it. I like the way it gets tougher each week. And I like the timed part instead of always counting. Not sure exactly. I will come up with something and send it to you to see what your thoughts are.
Shelley0 -
Jennifer I see that you get your cardio in with boxmania and the other one. You in for something a little different but still around half hour and geared toward abs and strength training?
Shelley0 -
I also saw the Boot Camp Challenge and was interested. You bet...I'm interested in changing it up and adding or taking away. Just let me know.
Jennifer0 -
Ran out of time today!! Had to walk with Leslie...sound down...for an hour because the wind was way tooooooo fierce outside! Then I did 30 minutes of Kelly Coffey-Meyer -- 30 Minutes to Fitness - Upper and Lower Body Workouts. I did upper body...it's 30 mins - all weights. I like her a lot, and I'm going to be sore tomorrow!! Then I had to edit a paper my daughter has to turn in by midnight tonight. It was a 41 page job...I didn't have to edit all of it, I'd already done the majority of it, but there was a crap-load added to it! Sara's working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership. This is one of her last papers for her second year. She has two more years...one of classes and one for her dissertation. Then I'll get to call her Doctor Daughter!!! bwahahaha!
I didn't get any of my other challenges done either. Tomorrow is another day!! I didn't have any trouble with the weights and my back muscle though.
Shelley and Jennifer - I'm up for anything as long as we keep working at it! If you wanted to take away the burpees, I wouldn't argue...I'm just sayin'...
Well, I'm putting my editor's visor and #2 pencil back in the drawer and searching for my pillow...see you tomorrow.0 -
I did not get it done yesterday either. On my way to do it for today. I am doing the 15 burpees. Which I think is more than enough of those hateful things. LOL I did get my zumba in yesterday though. Lets finish this off in great shape for the month. And then we will start the new one in May. Is everyone ok with Mason twists and bicycles for abs? And Chris the burpees are good for you. So they are not going away completely. Modify sister. I hear that the JJ are bad for knees. Anyone have issues with them? If so we could chage it to twisting punches or some other such for the warmup. That is how I look at the Jacks, a warm up so we do not hurt ourselves.
Anyways input is good.
Shelley0 -
Chris you should ask her to get a degree in physical therapy while she is at it. We could really use one of them. You must be so proud of her.
Shelley0 -
I'm so very proud of her. She's a Resource Specialist and helps all the children at her site who have learning disabilities. She's only 28 and works like crazy. But, I do agree...a physical therapist in the family would be an excellent idea...I'll see what I can do! bwahahah...just remembered, her next gig will be to get her administrator's credential. The PT degree may have to wait a bit!!
I modify the JJs. I don't jump...I step out to the side. I have no problem changing them up. The Mason twist is the same as a Russian twist?? I do the Russian twist with a 4 pound medicine ball. It's a good one. I did go back to the modified burpee. It's just easier on me. Okay I'll do them but ...grumblegrumblegrumble...
I do a Waist Trimmer that is pretty fast...less than 10 mins.
30 JJ
4 burpees
2 star jumps
40 Russian twists
20 oblique crunches (each side)
:30 side plank (each side)
:40 plank
20 bicycles
30 JJs
2 burpees
20 mtn. climbers
20 side leg lifts (each side)
30 Russian twists
:30 side planks (each side)
30 oblique crunches (each side)
5 burpees
It looks like a lot, but it's really quick. A little bit of everything.
I did the above and our challenge twice...the one with 15 burpees...the 30DS L1 D2, and a bunch of other stuff because I didn't do it yesterday and the scale has be going in the wrong direction because I found some new walnuts and almonds...I did 320 mountain climbers today!! But, I couldn't do a V boat pose. I can't get both ends of my body off the floor at the same time.
Now I must get ready for work tomorrow. It was a good evening! Hope you guys had a good day!
