Questions about fruit and losing weight

Hi! I just switched over to Paleo, recently, very recently as in yesterday. I have hit a major stall in weight loss. A little about me... I've lost 70 pounds and still have about 20-30 to lose. I work out 4 times a week, two times with a trainer doing crossfit type of workouts and the other two days weights and cardio. I was eating pretty clean with the occasional cheats here and there, to keep me sane. But I have not lost weight in 5 months but I have gone down a jean size, which I know is still a loss. The Paleo lifestyle really seems to fit me and I know I can eat this way 80% of the time. I am not looking for a quick diet fix to drop weight and then just regain it. Been there done that. I am hoping the new eating habits will help me start to lose again.

So here is my question, how much fruit can you eat and still lose weight? I know everyone is different and every answer might be different. But I just want to see what people think about eating fruit and losing weight?

Thanks. Jill

I am super sugar sensitive and can handle berries on occasion as long as it's with something high fat(clotted cream/devon cream).
I think everyone is different. If you find you have no sugar issues I wouldn't be too concerned with eating fruits on the lower end of fructose..stick to the fruit mentioned all the time in primal..berries,berries and more berries

Congrats on your weightloss so far!! I have been eating fruit and have been doing okay with it, but I've been trying to choose mostly berries and grapefruit, which, according to The Primal Blueprint are on the best choice list. I believe that list included berries, apples, peaches, pears, grapefruit and bananas if I remember right. I'm considering holding back on them a bit to see if that makes any difference, but I am worried about not getting the nutrition from them. In my smoothies, I do also add just a little frozen pineapple and mango because they make a big difference in how my smoothie tastes :-) But from what I've read, some people are more sensitive to sugars than others, so I would just experiment a little to see how your body responds.

Thank you for both of your responses. I am going to stick with the lower GI fruits and see how I do. I guess it's all just trial and error right?

I haven't limited fruit persap and I've been doing fairly well. I just finished the whole30 (actually i'm on day 45) - and I have had at least one piece of fruit almost every day - sometimes 2. I do try to watch my over all sugars from all foods like sweet potatoes. I try to keep my total sugars under 30 grams although sometimes I do go up to 40. I can't imagine that the natural sugar in fruit is any different than the sugars in any other food (sweet potatoes, carrots, tomatoes)... so rather than try to avoid fruit specifically, I watch the total sugar and carb intake. I also limit my calories to close to 1400. I do think MOSTLY to keep my portions in check since my internal guide is broken in that department.

... also check out Mark's daily apple: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dial-in-your-carb-count/#axzz2QjRW1TJq

    I found this helpful.

Also, I know this goes against the Paleo grain, but do you log your food and moniter your calories? I know it is not as simple as calories in - calories out... I know there is more to the equation as far as food quality goes, but I do believe quantity has a roll to play as well. Your diary is closed so I couldn't tell what you are eating now, but you may want consider limiting your calories and controllign your macros (carbs, fat, protein) for a while to see if you have any results.

    GOod luck. :-)

Pretty much. Just change one thing at a time so you know precisely what is producing what result.

Also, what works for your today will possibly not work for you a year from now. We're dynamic systems.

Also also, try scaling back on your workouts for at least a couple weeks. I bet you'll be happy you did.
