When snacking in between breakfast, lunch, and dinner, what are some good snacks to choose???? I eat fruit alot but would like some different options..

  • Hey,

I try to eat things like natural peanut butter, almonds, cashews, and things in that family to help hold me over between meals if I get hungry. But I have tried snacking on plenty of fruit during the day to help with my cravings of sweets.

Great topic!! for me, depends on where I am, I work from home so can do yogurt and cereal, hard boiled egg, light popcorn . I'm trying to have a balanced snack, some protein and some carb..so my new options are pb and celery, pb and whole wheat crackers, yogurt and cereal still fit, need to add some cheese to popcorn...travelling I stick turkey jerky in my bag (LOVE THIS), wheat thins, maybe a cheese if I'll be in ac. I recently tried the fruit mashers, some of them are good for a snack as well. I also do almonds sometimes if I'm in a hurry, with a piece of fruit.
  • Ideally, a low-carb snack should have protein, healthy fat, and some fiber. With that being said here are some easy snack ideas.

    Celery with peanut butter
    Hard boiled eggs
Sunflower seeds (get them in the shell so it will take longer to eat them)
    String cheese & apple slices
4-ounce plain or sugar free yogurt (with or without fruit)
A quarter cup of unsalted nuts
    Carrot sticks and hummus
Cottage cheese and berries (mixed or separate, still a great combo)
    Kale chips
Popcorn (avoid artificial butter - add a sprinkle of sea salt if needed)

If you are focusing on improving your snacking habits, you should also make sure that you are consuming enough water. This can reduce your hunger pangs in between meals. Our bodies can actually mistakenly think we need food when what we really need is water.

I made my own trailmix with my favorites. They make a great low cal snack of under 200 calories a serving. I also enjoy apples, celery, and my new found love are kellogs yogurt breakfast bar (takes care of the sweet) and the fiber one bar options (some even taste like candy bars). I switch my snacks around to keep things from getting boring. I am more of a grab and go person so that is how I opt to snack.
  • I am definitely going to have to write these snacks down.
