My wife and I are both doing our first starting tomorrow!! Been primal for about 3 years now, but have always left some cheats in here and there.
Dropping dairy will also be tough for us! (Booze too! haha)0 -

:sad: Epic Fail!! Ok...maybe not epic but after going back and forth, I decided to postpone the start of my Whole30 for another week. I still don't feel educated enough and therefore feel very under-educated about the entire thing. I wasn't able to spend the time at the hospital while my boyfriend was in surgery reading up like I had anticipated because all I could think about was him in surgery. I was literally petrified to start and I think I even broke out because of the added stress so rather than setting myself up for failure, I'm going to spend the next week finishing up the book and prepping as much as possible. It also makes it hard that the boyfriend doesn't support me at all in this decision because he picked up my book, read a chapter, and called it a crock of *kitten*. So I really have to prep on my own time which makes it even harder. But I will still be hear cheering you all on :drinker: and taking notes on the things that have worked for each and every one of you!

It stinks that you BF isn't supporting you, but just go on anyway. He might have a change of heart later. Also, try not to be defensive about it. If he makes snide comments, let them slide. Eventually, he'll see that you are feeling better, looking better, sleeping better...etc. And, delaying your start is in no way a failure! We'll be here for you whenever you decide to start!0 -

Not a fail! I didn't start until the 15th because I wasn't fully prepared. It's all good. Preparation and education is going to be how you are successful. As far as the BF issue. I would do it just because of that!0 -
Thank you ladies for the support and encouragement! I still have every intention of starting on Monday. It will obviously be a little harder than anticipated without the support of my boyfriend. But I need to do this for ME and only me! I told him that I couldn't believe that he wouldn't support my attempt to make myself a healthier person. He shrugged it off!0

Hi everyone!
I am a little late to this party as I just started yesterday, the 17th. I have been looking into it for a few weeks and decided to just jump in head first and go for it.
Since January I have lost around 30 pounds through clean eating and lower carb diet. I have been avoiding most grains for a long while with the exception of rice maybe once a week and pasta maybe once a month so this isn't horribly new to me. It is the dairy that's going to throw me for a loop! I love my yogurt!
I am hoping that this will help me get rid of these last 20 pounds of flab and help me fully embrace the paleo lifestyle. Glad to find this group0 -

I have a question regarding snacking in between meals for the Whole 30.
I am used to eating 5 meals a day Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner.
Any suggestions? Snacking on nuts/veggies ok?

I also want to lose weight. From 2009-2012 I lost a total of 76 lbs and was so content at my 140 lbs that I started eating bad here and there and continued to workout thinking I'd see results still. I have gained back about 35-40 lbs and I want to lose it in a healthy manner.
I plan on joining Crossfit mid-May and go full on Paleo.

I personally don't stick to the 3 meals/day thing all the time. If you workout, they suggest a pre and post-workout meal which adds up to 5 meals/day... so there's that. Also, I just make sure that my "snacks" are balanced (fat, protein, carbs). I typically use something tuna salad or chicken salad for "snacks". I try to make sure that my snacks are purposeful and not mindless (ie. eating something just because it's there or I'm bored...etc.)
