What Happens When You Give In to Temptation

No real point to this post, just an experience I had today....
So I'm new at this Primal stuff, and I'm still getting rid of non-paleo, non-primal foods in my house.
I have not had any kind of grains in over a week. I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but for me...it is.
Anyway, I was going through the deep freeze this morning and saw the Trader Joe's Maitre Pierre Tarte Alsace Pizza - "A French Style Flat Bread with Ham, Carmelized Onions & Gruyere Chese". This has been one of my favorite products from Trader Joe's that doesn't have the Trader Joe's name - I usually try not to buy stuff there without it.
I convinced myself to have a bit for lunch, because I know I'm eventually going to have to say goodbye to it, without throwing it away.
I ate it, enjoyed it thoroughly and then about 20-30 minutes later, got weak to moderate cramps in my belly.
DARN YOU WHEAT FLOUR!!
I haven't had any kind of discomfort at all since I cut all grains out of my diet. Obviously, I've gradually noticed how great I've been feeling. Who knows how much I've set my digestive system back just from one little lunch.
Lesson learned. I'm doing this for a reason, and I just got smacked with reality - it's not just a diet I'm trying. If I truly want this to work and to stick and to feel better and be healthier, I can't give in that way again.
I guess if my kids and husband won't eat it, it'll have to go in the trash.....

I am an all or nothing eater. I royally suck at moderation. One piece of bread or one cookie, and I'm eating pizza and ice cream every meal. So bad! After my Whole 30, I tried to allow just a treat to celebrate a few things, and it turned into 4 days of eating crap foods. I felt horrible, physically and emotionally, so I started fresh on Monday! I'm now on Day 5 of primal and I'm feeling awesome again, and I've lost 4 of the 5 lbs I'd gained during my brief relapse (obviously I was retaining water, lol). Like you, I'm looking at it as a learning experience - what else can we do? :)

I made that mistake once. It was not pretty. My stomach inflated really really big and I was uncomfortable! No bueno!!

I made soup and of course early in my primal/paleo experience thought that saltine crackers would be okay.NOT,horrible stomach cramps and the bathroom was my friend.I thought I had a cat inside me scratching to get out through my navel.I learned.I leave the crap alone now it hurts to much to eat it.

A few months ago it was girl scout cookies: I ordered them to be nice to the girl scout (my neighbor's daughter)... justified that they were "for my husband"... but then I couldn't help myself (they're a once a year treat, right?) but then I was doubled up on the couch with a nasty crampy belly half an hour later. I only ate 3 of them.

Or last Halloween when I was out at a party and decided it was probably ok if I had a few beers--that didn't end well either.

I think it's just something most of us do every so often, and it sucks for an hour or two--or maybe a day or two. And it just confirms that we're better off without the wheat.

Any of the times I've 'cheated' or gave into temptation with certain meals, it has never ended well for me which is crazy because it's foods that I used to eat all the time. Anytime I eat grains now, my stomach bloats up like never before and I get stomach aches usually a few hours after or the next day. My sinuses also kick back in. Since I started eating paleo/primal I've had absolutely no sinus issues, and I used to get sinus infections about once a month, especially over the winter.
