Help me figure out how to fit in working out...

Hi - I am new to this group! I have a kindergarterner and a 15 month old. I also work FT, and I am constantly stuck trying to figure out how to fit in working out. Heading to the gym in the morning or evening is tough because I don't want to cut into the time with my little people, and I'm honestly pretty tapped out so getting up before 5 or going after 9 cuts into my sleep too much (my toddler is a terrible sleeper, so I'm up a few times through the night as well).
So, I think that leaves me trying to find some ideas for how to get into a routine either at work (lunchtime at the work gym?) or with my kiddos. Maybe jogging/powerwalking with my toddler in the stroller while my older kiddo scooters/bikes in the morning before work/school? Biking? Does anyone have any feedback about how to succesfully build this in? TIA!!

I am copying & pasting this from another thread that had a similar question because I don't feel like re-typing it all out, lol!
I walk during my breaks at work, so 2x a day, for 15 minutes each time. Then at home I try to do some strength training (bicep curls, dead lifts, tricep dips, planks, squats, leg lifts, and crunches) at night, after they go to bed while I watch my TV shows, about 3-4 times a week0 -
I have 4 kids (ages 8-2) and a full time job so I have found that I need to get creative. I sucked it up and workout at night. I go to a workout class at 8pm two nights a week. It took a few weeks to get used to but now I really enjoy it and look forward to the time. I also do my best to walk with the kids. We look for new parks, have picnics, etc that we can walk to.
How supportive is your husband? We have found that on Saturdays he goes for a morning workout and I hang with the kids. Later that day I go workout for an hour or so while the littles take a nap and the hubby hangs out with the big kids. It has been working well so far. We each get a workout in and while we miss the kids for an our or so they are having a great time with the other parent.0 -
i struggle with the same issue!! feel like i'm in a marathon all week long. wake up at 6 or 7 with my daughter (10mos), get us both ready for the day, rush off to daycare/work, rush home at 5, pick her up, bathtime, dinnertime, etc. by the time she's actually in bed and asleep, it's 8pm and then i usually have work to do and/or chores. my husband leaves for work at 6am and doesn't get home til 7 or 8pm so he can't help much.
my work schedule doesn't really allow for a mid-day workout. i'm thinking of trying to walk for 30 min or so instead of lunch - which i guess is better than nothing. i have to wear a suit to work and i can't get all sweaty and gross and come back to meet with clients. part of me feels like i'm just making excuses but i'm not sure what else to do.
i try to get in good workouts on the weekend but i feel like i'm really missing out on cardio0 -
I am a mom of a 2 year old i work full time.
I'm at the gym 6 days a week. I bring her up there with me. Yes, it cuts into our time and sometimes I'm left feeling guilty. But working out this intense is temporary. Once I get to my weight I will probably cut back gym time to 3 times a week and do a light walk 3 times and I can bring her for the walks.
I'd rather work my *kitten* off and strengthen my back (I have back problems) than be paralyzed in pain for a month at a time and be completely unable to socialize wit her.0 -

What sort of exercises do you do to help your back? I have back issues also?0

If you have a gym at work, I would utilize that! We have one too and I use it during my lunch hour a lot. Works out really well, because I am tired in the late afternoon when I get home and I have two busy teens. Hungry ones too.0

Do you have a jogging stroller. Then you can keep up with the oldest on the bike.
I have a hiking carrier for my son that I will use when I walk.0 -
