Why do I feel hungry right after eating??

Lunch was 270 calories, 8 carbs, 16 grams of fat, 3 grams of fiber & 14 grams of protein. I would think this would make me feel full for longer.

I eat the same frozen veggies as you, but I usually eat the whole bag, especially if I am still feeling hungry.0

I'm not sure about you, but I often eat really fast...something I'm trying to work on. Chewing more, putting down your fork between bites, stuff like that can help slowwww you down. Also, being conscious of your eating...so not eating in front of the tv, can help too! Then your brain will have time to be signaled that you're full. Also, ADD MORE FAT. Remember, this is paleo, so fat is your friend!0

You need to eat more, 1200-1300 calories/day isn't enough. Personally, 270 calories is a snack for me! More protein, too!0

Agree with the others - 270 seems light for a meal, but as I don't know what your eating schedule for the day is, I won't take you to task. I eat several small meals throughout the day (grazing) so that my wife and I can have a full dinner (often exceeding 1000 cals).
What I wanted to say was: review your eating plan with an objective eye. If you still have a fair amount of grain/sugar carbs in your diet, you may not have converted from glucose-based energy (with all of the insulin-related issues associated) to fat-based. If so, then you may still experience hunger because you are not providing the 'sugar hit' your body expects.0 -

Because you're not getting enough calories in general. Your body is telling you to eat, so eat.0 -
All of your macros seem very low..eat more food and you will feel better.0

You're probably hungry for just more calories in general. If I'm not eating sugar, I trust my hunger cues. If your blood sugar isn't wonky and your body is saying "I'm hungry" I'd feed it.0

I am really short so anytime I eat over 1300 (with exercise) I gain weight0

I do also eat 3 snacks a day ( i know I shouldn't be snacking) I actually never tracked before but did so I would make sure I did eat enough calories. LOL When I first logged out of curiosity to see what I was eating I was only eating about 800. I will try to eat more tomorrow and see if that helps0

Try eating bigger meals and not snacking. That would allow you to eat more toward 400 calories per meal (assuming 3 meals/day). I have nearly double your calorie needs and generally have a filling breakfast that amounts to, at most, 380 calories and am not hungry until noonish (eggs and bacon, baby!).0 -

AGREED^^^ I am always super full at eating 1500 cals a day on a rest day , and usually around 1800 if I work out0 -
Thanks for the responses! I had a much bigger breakfast and lunch today! I added more fat too and guess what! I don't feel hungry Also I am normally on snack #2 by now. None yet.. woohoo!
I don't know what to do to make my dinner more calories though. I am having tacos with lettuce wraps. Ground beef (4oz) 1/2 an avacodo (as guac) and tomatoes. Maybe I'll add fruit and nuts too?0 -

I agree. It takes your body a while to fully adjust to this lifestyle. When you become fat adapted then you will naturally be less hungry because your body is able to sustain itself for longer periods of time between meals. It looks like though you need to eat more food and more fats specifically. I understand you feel you will gain weight if you exceed 1300 calories. Most paleo folks focus a lot of attention on carbs although calories matter if you overeat. Have you read the primal blueprint? Maybe google the carbohydrate curve to get more info on that.0 -

Make sure you don't use lean ground beef. Also more than 4 oz is also ok. Your protein should be the star of your meal.0 -

Or maybe have seconds? ;^)0 -
270 calories is not a meal; it's a light snack. Glad you are eating fat, but eat more. Eat until you are satisfied, and since you are low carb your body will let you know how much is enough.
I don't eat breakfast (intermittent fasting) and I don't eat snacks. I have two big meals per day that are about 600-1000 calories each and are nutrient dense (high fat). I NEVER have to walk away from food before I am full and satisfied.
This idea of eating mini meals doesn't work for me at all but it sure is common advice in the general forum. Along with "fill up on water" and sugar-free jello. Dumb.
Edit: if you want to feel "fuller" increase fat, as you have discovered. BUT, increasing fruit can actually stimulate appetite. Sure, fruit is natural blah blah blah (actually the fruit we eat from the store now is very dissimilar from fruit we were eating a long time ago) but for many people, especially those of us who are over-weight, fructose can be problematic. Fructose is still sugar. Berries are the best option. I have a quarter cup of frozen berries with about a quarter cup of full fat cream; tastes just as good as ice cream. Nuts are a good choice for those people who can tolerate them and don't get carried away with portion size.0 -
