to 5K?

I've just started the C25K, I've gotten to W2D2 which will be tomorrow. I am very slow, but have been able to "run", really a slow jog, for the times given and I am improving. There's no way that I'm close to doing 5K though. The distance that I've done in week 1 and the first day of week 2 is about 1.07 miles, 1/3 of 5K.

Is this okay?

It appears that in the coming weeks I'll have to choose time or distance. I'm definitely doing time!

Would it be strange if I completed the program as time and then repeated it again doing distance? And then entered a 5K race? Does that make sense?

I didn't worry about speed at all; I think my top distance so far is a little over 2 miles. I just concentrated on getting through the runs without stopping. I just graduated last week and started Zombies, Run! so I can work on my speed (I'm also throwing hills in while I'm at it).

If you have an iPhone, pixtotts, the Nike+ app is great for measuring distance. It runs nicely in the background behind the C25K app.
