A Passion for Running

I've been thinking about the thread in the 5k forum about developing a passion for running. In the interests of not scaring/confusing people who are in the process of developing capacity, I thought I'd take it over here.
I think you develop a passion for running when you take it far enough and fast enough. You really have to push until you want to give up and embrace that, allow yourself to really hate it while telling yourself that this is what makes you better, for a mile or so on a few runs before you develop the capacity to enjoy running in the moment.
I know that not everybody finds that happy place, no matter how hard they work. But I don't think that anybody finds it if they don't.

I think my passion comes from the fact that it is something my wife & I can do together. If it was just one of us alone, I guarantee we would not keep running/exercising and go back to our lazy ways. We constantly push each other to keep going and keep improving.0

I loved it from the first day of c25k, even when I am having a bad run I still feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish. On my days off I find myself thinking about my next run, where I'm going to run, how long for..., my husband and kids think I am crazy!0

Mmm. Remembering that feeling when I finished W1 D1 - finished it! Did ALL the runs! Dripping with sweat and exhausted! Me, I did it! makes me go to a very happy place.0

I feel exactly the same, Romyhorse! I have loved it from the beginning too. Run days are happy days! No matter what is going on at work, I feel an inner peace knowing that I have my run to look forward to. Even when the run is crappy, I never regret it. I don't care what the weather is! I'm going. Only unplowed roads or lightening have kept me inside for a run.0
