Hi, I'm Varda. I live in Atlanta. I've been running about a year. I'm slower than you but I finished a half marathon at the end of October 2013 (2:39:something). I love running and runners and am happy to welcome you to our group.
What are your goals for finishing 2014 strong?
What are your October Goals?
What are your August goals?
Is anyone setting any fitness resolutions for the New Year? I've only got a few. I still find myself thinking that there is a good chance that I won't continue with my fitness, even though I'm enjoying the new lifestyle and keeping on track without problems. It's the old me coming through and one goal is to finally conquer…
Has anyone tried any of the Runkeeper 10k training plans? I'm thinking about trying one now I'm done with c25k and I like the idea of doing speed work etc. At the moment I'm trying to decide whether to do the Runkeeper one, Hal Higdon or Runner's World Smart Coach. Any opinions/tips?
Yesterday I started Week 5 of my variation of Hal Higdon's 10k novice program and did 30 minutes of strength training and some stretching. Today, I ran a bit more than 2 miles with a moderate effort. I like Varda's description of level of effort and this felt like moderate. It turned out to be the fastest pace I have ever…
Hi all A misfortune, a blister came up between 2nd and 3rd toe and I have a half marathon race in Sunday. Anyone knows what to do in order to finish the race without pain? Many tnx in advance
I started "running" last summer. I've done c25k twice and am on my second round of b210k, just finished w10d3. I took a few of the winter months off, and have been pretty consistently back at it for 6 weeks or so. I try very diligently to take a day off between runs to rest and repair. This morning I ran 4+ miles doing my…
Hello Just after some advice from the B210K community. I recently completed C25K and yesterday planned on running a 5K, adding an additional 5 mins and starting the B210K programme tomorrow. However I enjoyed my run so much I ended up running for 45mins straight comfortably. I could have run longer but didn't want to do…
Well I did it! I did it very slowly, and my foot has now disowned me, but I still did it! :-D
Hi all, I haven't posted in a while, and have had some trouble maintaining my running program through the last few weeks, but had a training question for all of you. I am adjusting to running on the treadmill, and have been running a 5k currently a few days a week. I last ran outside in mid-January while on a trip to…
Well abbreviated version Stopped training plan at the start of August knee injury, before Sunday ran 44 miles in the previous 7 weeks. Gone from a sub 4hour plan to lets finish plan and under 5 hours would be great. Got round in 4:25:01, ecstatic. Emotional, very. Longer version. With all the road closures yesterday and…
I see stuff about compression leggings, socks, sleeves, leg sleeves. Do they actually help performance? Do they actually help with recovery? Is it worth the money to invest in these? Or are they a gimmick? I have the same questions around Rock Tape and other similar tapes. I've had issues with my achilles and my calf so…
I started C25K in May and moved on to B210K following the expert advice received here. I'm currently on Week 11 and ran 4.2 miles in an hour on Wednesday. There's a local 10k race in October and I wanted to sign up for it, but my husband thinks it's too early. Especially since I 'walked/ran' a 5k as soon as I graduated…
