There is a thread for our weekly pole successes and another for pole pics, so I thought we should have a thread for pole videos!

Post your pole performances, how-to videos (please do! I always want to learn new things), and latests tricks! Also throw in any pole videos of others you love too much not to share!

Here is link to my first pole performance *eep* on my pole blog - check it out!!

Also I appreciate and love constructive criticism so feel free to let me know how I can improve!

Awesome job and major kudos for being brave enough to post! I don't have any videos yet, but if I did, I suspect I'd be scared to share them.

    So, my thoughts...

    1. Yes, slow down. You had a nice burlesque vibe going on, but I like slow myself. Of course, it's what they teach at my studio, so I am biased.

    2. Loved the "hairography" and I'm stealing that word!

    3. Your cat pounce was hot hot hot!

    4. I didn't notice any mistakes. Probably because I was watching how great you looked.

    5. How can you dance with all those mirrors around?!? I would die of vanity. My studio has no mirrors.

Excellent work. Keep it up and keep posting!

Thanks so much for your feedback!

I meant to be slower I promise!! I just got super nervous and my adrenaline was going so it really felt like I was going slower but it wasn't till watching it I realized I was going SO fast.

As for the mirrors, you kinda get used to them and start to see them as a tool in checking your lines and position. That being said it wasn't till I went to an S Factor class where its pitched black LOL and has no mirrors that I realized most (or maybe just a lot) studios are that way to.

It was super hard to watch this first video, but now I've gotten past this hump I think I'll be more comfortable posting pics in the future.

    Great job!

I agree that it was a bit fast, but I get the same way when Im nervous to show someone some moves.
At the 40 - 50 second marks, I thought it was spot on and very sexy.
I love a lot of hair whipping, that was great.
When my hands arent on the pole or my body, I usually put my arm out and do a sorta dainty come hither hand twirls (best way I can think to describe it lol).

Overall I thought it was awesome! You looked like you were having fun while performing. I bet you felt so proud after finishing - its hard to have the courage to perform any kind of dance, let alone a sexy pole dance, in front of a bunch of people.

The walking on the ceiling in the second clip is one of my goals.

I love that on your 2nd video someone automatically assumed you danced in a club LOL, nothing wrong with dancing in a club, but its certainly an assumption to make.

Thanks for your advice! I have my second performance tonight - an in-class performance for my Freestyle Workshop - and other than just letting myself get into the music, I'm focusing on slowing down and pretty arms!

    Thanks for

Thanks. I practice alot. Ive never taken classes, I bought a pole for my home and have self taught, but I use it about 5 days a week. Yeah, the walking on the ceiling was one move I really wanted to learn, I always thought it looked pretty neat.

lol, yeah... sometimes it annoys me how often people relate pole dancing with stripping. Like you said, nothing wrong with it, but I find it pretty ignorant.

Finding Your Freestyle: https://www.facebook.com/FindingYourFreestyle?fref=ts posted a 2min aerial pole challenge - basically video yourself doing a 2 minutes on the pole and your feet never touching the ground. I plan to take on the challenge - which will be a real challenge for me since I can't aerial invert or do splits grips right now (seems like one wrist is always injured!).
But they posted Jenyne Butterflys performance where she goes a full 3 min on static pole without touching the ground: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuiWLBQwaB8&feature=youtu.be

    Wow, Jenynes performance was awesome.

I'll try to take on that challenge too. Ive never tested how long I can stay on the pole. I cant do split grips either, and my aerial inverts are terrible, most of the time I cant do them. My transitions need a ton of work too. This will be hard for me...

I need to focus more on calming my breathing too.

Yeah I'm going to have to chose a super slow song to do it LOL!

Can't wait to see everyone's results!

Here is the official Finding your Freestyle challenge and her 2 min challenge result!

I ave another performance tomorrow night, again freestyle - super nervous again. I think in this past one I slowed down a lot, but still dont know what to do with my hands LOL
  • Great work! I have trouble slowing down too... oh and apparently I have trouble not making angry faces when concentrating on a new move :-) You did a really nice job and looked like you were having fun! I'm so excited to have found this discussion board! I added your blog to my blog reader... I've just started blogging myself at http://polelibrarian.blogspot.com/ and my twitter is polelibrarian.

Excited to share with you all more! and hopefully I'll get my own pole soon and be able to do some video.

I'll be posting another freestyle dance I did soon, I realized I did the same moves OVER AND OVER lol. Ah well, you live you learn. I definitely make strange faces while doing a new move - maybe thats why I don't do new moves in performances and end up repeating myself ;D.

I checkout your blog - looks great!! I'm not sure what a blogreader is or if I have it, but if I do I'll add you!
