One of my swimming goals has been to get a sub 10 minute time in a 500. Yeah, I now a real fast time is sub 5 minutes, but for me that was the line between a "good" swimmer and one that's not.
Well tonight I made it... cut it as close as one can get:

You did it easily. You still had a good 13 one hundreds of a second to cruise.0

Great job, the 500 is a lot tougher than a lot of people think.........0

Great work Matt. Sure feels good to hit some of those milestones doesn't it!
Hit a new PB in 500 this morning as well.
Came in at 8:28. Was struggling at 12min, 11 min, 10 minutes, etc when just getting back to swimming at the beginning of January but it's been creepin' downward as time goes on.
My actual PB for 500 is 5:06, but I was 18 years old then and swimming 5-8k each day. Don't see that number coming back into play at this stage in life!

I was crunched for time tonight, only did 15 laps.
But I took another 4 seconds off that time from just two days ago. The cool part with the lap timer is that I could go back and see where I was for the 500 - 9:55.8, and 14:55 for the whole 15 laps.
I also did a 36:04 mile yesterday - a new PB by a minute from last month.0 -
Awesome.
I'm right there too. 1 minute per lap average including stopping every 12 laps for a sip of water.
I find that maintaining this pace makes reaching the longer distances much easier for me.
I don't have the power to sprint. But I have the endurance to just keep going at the 1 minute pace.
BTW, the MFP calculator assumes 1 minute per lap for the leisurely/moderate pace front crawl. So I just enter 1 minute per lap that I swim.0
