Is eating at night bad?

I have always heard that eating after a certain time like 8pm is bad and will harm weight loss. Does this apply to paleo? I normally eat dinner around 5pm but tonight didn't eat until after 9pm and will be going to bed within two hours or so of eating. I know this one time isn't going to matter but I am just wondering if with paleo it matters when you eat.

They say not to eat after 7pm or so many hours before bed. But sometimes you cant help eating later. I think that its ok if you eat a few hours before bed. I think the problem is when you eat a huge meal than go to bed. I think it has to do with digestion.0

It interferes with sleep, primarily. I don't have too many issues, but I am working on stopping eating after 8 or so, so that I have a couple hours before bed to digest.0

I always have a snack around 9/10pm and have never had a problem with weight loss or sleep.:ohwell:0

I've herard that it doesn't matter. Dr. Oz has said that the main reason that you make a rule like that is because by 9
PM most people have had all of the calories they should have for the day and snacking later at night is really just overeating.0 -
it does disrupt your sleep and I think that's the reason why it's not the best idea.If you eat just before bed or within a couple of hours, the body spends it's time digesting food rather than repairing itself while you sleep.0

Meal time is largely irrelevant; it's relevance is only really on preference.
I typically eat all my calories at night, before bed because it helps me sleep - hence why eating throughout the day would be detrimental.0 -
Eatting at night is not bad as long as you are within your calorie limits and are not indulging in the "typical" munchies like ice cream and cake. The reason many trainers encourage their Clients not to eat at night is because usually by then a person has already gone through most of their calories and at night is when the cravings and munches tend to be the worst for people. So by avoiding the kitchen you will not be tempted by any foods you may see or smell and your less likely to go over remaining calories. But no, in all actuality you can eat at midnight and it wouldn't affect your goals0
