Weight Loss....

Hi all-
Quick question. I switched to a whole-foods plant-based diet 10 days ago, and WOAH! I've dropped 5 pounds in 10 days, eating the same number of calories I was eating before. I finally feel good (was experiencing some light-headedness the first 7 days or so). My question is this: is it normal to lose weight that quick when making the switch? I've NEVER been this successful with weight loss (have PCOS and low thyroid). Did others experience easy weight loss like this, too?
Thanks in advance!

I am in a course at Cornell that T. Colin Campbell put out to get certified in llant based nutrition - I also started WFPB in Feb 2013 - much like you alot in the beginning came off and it is very much due to the body losing inflammation from the meat and dairy and oil you had been consuming. You are essentially cleaning out the toxins and replacing with very rich and fibrous foods that your body loves!
Don't be too fooled - it does level off but you will still have steady loss over time - you still must do the work with the right foods and possibly calorie restriction - I am at day 115 and 21 lbs down waiting for my next drop - I have also seen many who switch to WFPB, watch their weight after the initial drop, level off, then drop again, then level off and drop again - think of it like steps going down.
My theory is the body is getting used to each step in less weight, adjusts, lets go, adjust, lets go...................
Let me know if you have any other questions!0 -

Dr. Campbell recommends an 80/10/10 split - 80% carbs - complex carbs from WFPB, 10% fat and only 10% protein - all from plants. Protein esp any higher has been shown in his studies to turn on cancer - much of America thinks more protein, more protein - not true - more protein only leads to poor health. Much of what we see are companies wanting to make money at the cost of our health. Hope this helps!0
