Running Music

I realized last night while doing my w/o that the music that plays really affects my run. If I can find music with a good beat it helps me pace myself. So tell me, what are your music suggestions to pace a 4.0-4.5 jog? It doesn't have to be "zombie" music either.

I noticed that - I love the fact the website shows which tracks make me run faster.
Eye of the Tiger always works - if you are a supernatural fan you will understand. Also Greece lighting helps.
I downloaded off Amazon a running Album that has some great songs.0 -
I listen to She Wants Revenge, i've been a fan of theirs for years, but i only discovered now how well their songs go with running.
Although lately i even forget what i'm listening to or that i'm running, it's like getting lost in a run.
Some years ago i ran without any music because it was difficult for me to focus on my breathing and steps, just too distracting.
I'm sure there are special motivating, fast-paced running /exercise songs! Just google0 -
Born this Way by Lady Gaga, Kids by MGMT, Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, Dog Days are Over by Florence and the Machine, London Calling by The Clash, Heads Will Roll by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men, Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People, anything by The Go! Team, 1901 by Phoenix, Jump for my Love by the Pointer Sisters.
Those are a few that come to mind. Pretty much anything I'd dance to, I'll run to.0 -
I run with music at the gym only. When I run outdoors it's at night, and I consider it a basic safety precaution to be able to hear what happens around me.
At the gym though... Iron Maiden and The Black Mages (They play metal/rock type covers of Final Fantasy music).
Or you can check out this site, maybe? http://www.runhundred.com/0 -
I recently learned about cadence. It's how many steps per minute you take when you run.
It should always be the same. No matter the speed you're running at.
An 'average' cadence is 180 spm (steps per minute)
To figure yours out you count your left foot steps for 30 second and multiply by 4.
Also, if you run using a metronome, it'll help you regulate your cadence, which helps with energy and form (and in turn injuries).
I also learned that the music you play definitely effects your pace.
Once you figure our your cadence, you can get songs that play at the best speed for your running speed.
I use this site to find songs that are at my cadence (which is 180 spm):

I learned most this and more in this video, Chi Running:

While I'm generally a fan of mellower kinds of music, I've found out that having Sam yell "Run, Runner 5!!!!" in my ear and then having it play a Sarah McLachlan song doesn't exactly give me the adrenaline boost I need.
So, these are my go-to songs for "Zombies, Run!". They're a little heavy, possibly, but they get me going again when I want to slow down.
"How Far We've Come" - Matchbox 20. This song is almost tailor-made for "Zombies, Run!". The beat, the lyrics, everything. I *love* this song.

"Burn It Down" by AWOLNATION. I discovered this song a few weeks ago by looking at other runners lists of favorite songs. And I love the video. Ninjas, cheerleaders, mermaids...how can you NOT love that?!?

"Parallel or Together?" by Ted Leo & The Pharmacists. LOVE this song, and it really gets me moving.

"Heaven" by Angels & Airwaves. This is my number one go-to song for "Zombies, Run!". An amazing, epic song that fits in perfectly with the story. I always try to make this song the last one on my playlist for each mission. I love this band, and I love this song. With this song playing loudly in your ears, you feel unstoppable.
