Bikini or Figure?

I've been training for about 7 weeks for competition on Sept 28th. My trainer has since said I should shoot for a show a month earlier on Aug 24th. I'm ok with that!

Now she's thinking I might need to enter Figure instead of Bikini because my upper body is so lean already. The problem is my legs aren't quite there yet. I'm a little worried that if I enter Figure I may not place because I'll be too small on the bottom half. But then again if I enter Bikini I may not place because I'm too "lean/big" up top.

What should I do?! Scale down the upper body workouts or BEAST MODE/KILL legs and see if they catch up?

Can I ask what organization you plan to compete in? Different organizations reward slightly different looks, but if you are competing NPC, I would stick with bikini. They have been rewarding a leaner, more athletic look in bikini, and I think you're right in that your legs will work against you in figure (coming from another too small figure girl). The thing you have going for you in bikini is that you have the correct "assets" in your lower body to do well. Take a look at Rx Muscle's contest gallery: gallery.rxmuscle.com They have all sorts of NPC competition photos, and look at the girls that have placed well nationally. My friend Caryn won the Class A Arnold Amateur this year and just won the bodybuilding.com Fit USA competition, and she's definitely on the leaner, more athletic looking side.

I agree !!! Bikini then work your legs up to figure at a good steady pace so the muscle builds better then the quick muscle. striations seem better when you take your time to build but I am not a trainer.. just a nosey competitor lol
